"Let me get this straight: Your partner, Jiménez, left without telling anyone, even driving a police car? And you're saying you followed him but lost him due to circumstances beyond your control?" Bogo's voice was anything but happy; he felt like he was losing his mind over everything that had happened.
Judy nodded slightly, feeling guilty inside. "Yes. We're sorry, Chief. We tried to follow him, but we had to attend to the accident victim."
The buffalo placed his hoof on his head, pressing down slightly. "That fox better have a good excuse for this transgression... because what he's done is..." He sighed deeply.
"Chief, with all due respect, we've never seen Vol act like this. He's always told us everything. Give him a chance, we'll find out what happened." Nick decided to defend his partner.
Bogo sighed again, he wanted to find his officer, but he had to trust those who knew him best. "Fine. But you have to find him within 48 hours, or I'll mobilize more forces to bring him back. And I won't be so gentle." Then he put his hooves together. "I'm giving you this chance because I trust you and I want you to redeem yourselves for failing to stop him. Please, find him."
Judy got off the seat. "We will, and we'll make sure to give him a piece of our mind, Chief." Still serious, she allowed herself a subtle hint of teasing.
The fox and the bunny left, and Bogo stood up to look out the window, his arms behind his back. "Why did he do this? Now I have to find him, the criminal and the kid... Absolutely brilliant..." Sarcasm crept into his thoughts, along with concern about his agent's actions. He'd only know the reason when he had that fox in front of him.
The now-duo, Nick and Judy, went downstairs, wondering what they could do next, or even if there was some detail their partner had done that they might have overlooked. But nothing came to mind, they only saw a sudden decision without any clues leading them to where he was now. They'd have to start searching properly.
"Where do we begin, Nick?" Judy asked, a hint of desperation in her voice. "We need to find resources for the investigation... and fast."
The fox was still thinking, even as his partner spoke. "The cameras; any of them must have recorded what he saw on his phone. If it's not that..." He shrugged. Although he maintained his composure, he knew he'd need to hurry to find more leads.
"Let's see what they've recorded." The bunny hurried to the recording room, closely followed by her fox partner.
Upon arriving, they went inside and settled in, then looked for the date and time Vol had left. After entering the data, they reviewed the security camera footage, searching for the one focused on the central area of the police station.
In the picture, the three of them were talking, then started walking, but shortly after, Vol stopped and took out his phone. The camera wasn't focused on his face, but his eyes were glued to the screen. Then he looked up, at which point Nick called him over.
"We have a really good shot of his phone screen. We need to see what it says." Judy said with seriousness.
Nick tried to adjust his eyes to the screen after the image became a little sharper, but it was still difficult to read the text. "I see... very few letters in the sender's name... I'd almost say four, but I don't know who it's from."
"If he did what he did... it's very likely Ryan... even if Gloria sent it." The bunny reasoned, trying to help her partner uncover more about the message.
"We can neither confirm nor deny it." The fox said, turning away from the screen. "I'm going to ruin my eyesight if I keep this up." He sighed. "We need a computer program that improves the image quality."
