"So Ebony tell me about yourself."

Ebony looked down at her hands that were moist and clammy, feeling a wave of anxiety crashing onto her. She was officially starting therapy and it scared the shit out of her. She knew attending therapy meant confronting the demons she tried to desperately to hide. Secrets of the past, her trauma, the sexual abuse she'd endured during her childhood and teen years. That was just scratching the surface.

"There's not much to tell," Ebony finally spoke, her throat suddenly feeling dry. She reached for the water bottle she had grabbed from the fridge in the waiting room, taking a much needed sip.

Dr. Angela Thomas leaned back in her cushioned seat, resting her hands in her lap. "We all have a story to tell. No matter how insignificant we think it may seem to others," she stated, crossing her legs.

"I guess," Ebony mumbled, wanting to disappear.

Sensing the teen's reluctance, Dr. Thomas decided to switch gears. "Let's start simple. We'll start with the basics, just general questions. I'll ask, you answer, and then I give my answer. How does that sound?" she looked to Ebony for an answer.
