Kehlani walked with an air of confidence as she entered Barrymore High School. The warm air conditioning slapped against her face as she walked through the doors. Her new pink and white low dunk Nikes squeaked against the freshly waxed tile floor as she made her way to the grad center.
To say she was feeling good at the moment was an understatement. For the first time in a long time, she felt hopeful and optimistic about the future. She was actually looking forward to returning to school after the two week Christmas break. Going back home was the reset she needed to get clarity about her life and where she was headed. Kehlani was stepping into the new year self assured and ready to close out her senior year with a bang.
"Kehlani!"
She turned around to see Robyn heading her way, carrying her vintage Baby Phat purse and sticker covered binder. She was rocking a new color, golden blonde tresses which brought out her hazel green eyes.
"Ooh you look good!" Kehlani nodded in approval taking in her outfit. Robyn wore a white button up blouse tucked into high waisted dark washed jeans, paired with an olive green lapel collared trench coat, and white and chestnut brown fuzzy moon boots. Her entire outfit screamed new-new.
"Thank you. Did a little shopping over the weekend," Robyn flipped her hair over her shoulder, feeling herself. Her clothes still had that fresh retail smell on them. Chris gave her his credit card, and she went on a shopping spree, treating herself to a week's worth of new clothes and outfit's.
"I can tell," Kehlani giggled, as they fell in step with each other. "How was your break?"
"It was..." Robyn's voice trailed off as she pondered for a moment. "Eventful. I feel very renewed and rejuvenated. I just want to put my best foot forward and do what I need to do to close out my senior year on a good note."
