Mercy | Part Four

"Cobra Kai vs Cobra Kai. Sensei Lawrence must be ecstatic for this match. Either way his dojo will advance. But who will it be?"

The two Cobras looked to Johnny for some encouraging words of wisdom.

"Just do your best out there. It's no different to the times you've sparred. Both of you have had equal wins and losses. This fight has obviously higher stakes. Do Cobra Kai proud."

"Yes, Sensei." His two first students said in unison.

The crowd cheered as Phoebe and Miguel stepped onto the mat.

Up in the audience, Demetri sighed. "This is going to end well." He said sarcastically. "I don't know who to cheer for. Miguel is my friend and Phoebe is my family."

"Cheer for both." Moon said. "But I'm cheering for Phoebe."

Sophie turned to George, "Is this normal for karate? For two people from the same dojo fighting?"

"Not usually. But I feel for Phoebe. It can't be easy to fight against Miguel with these stakes."

The nurse replied, "I hope this doesn't ruin their friendship."

The girl went to the furthest side, though before she made it that far, she stopped. "You're not going to hold back, right?"

"No, you?"

"No."

Miguel smiled, "Good." He held his fist out to her.

His best friend returned the smile and fist bumped him.

The referee stepped onto the mat, "Good luck to the both of you. Fighting positions!" The two cobras got into their fighting positions. "Ready! And fight!"

Johnny's first two students circled each other for two seconds before both launching themselves onto the attack. They knew the other's strengths and weaknesses.

Phoebe aimed a punch at Miguel, which he blocked. He swung his leg up to kick her, however she ducked under it and stretched her right fist out to punch him in the stomach.

"Point, Alexopoulos!" The Ref declared. "Fighting positions! Ready? Fight!"

Miguel struck first. He punched and kicked out at Phoebe, who blocked his attacks. She very quickly did a right jab at him. The male cobra responded by putting one hand around the back of her neck and the other holding her right wrist. Moving around to the side of her swiftly, he flipped her onto the mat and jabbed her in the chest.

"Point, Diaz! One point each." The friendly opponents moved to the centre of the mat. "Ready? And fight!"

Phoebe immediately pounced and aimed a powerful right kick, when Miguel blocked that, she aimed a left kick at him and he swiped her leg away. She decided to then lash out with quick jabs with both her hands. Miguel ducked. He was going to sweep her legs out from under her, but unfortunately, she stepped back just in time.

Though she didn't give Miguel any time to make a move, Phoebe stepped forward as he got up and aimed another kick at him. Miguel had to go on defence and block her kicks.

The female Cobra went to punch him, but he caught her wrist. She went to punch him with the other fist, but he grabbed her other wrist. This gave Miguel the perfect opportunity for Miguel to gain a point and be one step closer to victory, but Phoebe wouldn't make it that easy. She pushed herself towards Miguel, enough for him to loosen his grip on her right wrist. She slithered it out of his grip to hook her arm underneath his right armpit and over his arm. While doing that, she turned so her back was facing his chest. Using the arm lock and the grip she had on Miguel, the girl flipped him overdo he landed on the mat back first. She quickly crouched down and jabbed him in the stomach.
