Hawk stared at the piece of paper on his kitchen counter as if it were written in a foreign language that he had no clue how to translate. It was his mom's handwriting that he peered at. He had seen her do this a thousand times. He had been in the room while she had been doing it. He was a technical wizard, how hard could it be? The teenager certainly didn't want to call her for help. That was a pussy move.

Taking out his phone and called the next best person instead. When the line picked up, he asked,  "Hey, do you know anything about baking?"

"Eh...no." His best friend answered, "Why do you ask?"

"I'm trying to bake a cookie and I have no idea where to start."

"Just the one? Isn't that a waste?"

"It's a big one...in the shape of a heart. I have my mom's recipe here, but I don't understand it."

"If you have the recipe and all the ingredients, you're all good. The only advice I could give you is the cookie will harden when it comes out of the oven and don't put any frosting on anything hot baking wise. My mom's fallen in love with Paul Hollywood. She's watching The Great British Bake Off. According to her, he has such ice blue eyes."

Hawk could hear his friends' eye roll over the phone, "Okay. Thanks, Demetri."

"Yeah, sure. Anything for my Binary Brother."

Hawk ended the call and sighed. He picked up the recipe again and double checked he had the correct ingredients and equipment and he had already preheated the oven.

Phoebe sat that night in her room twiddling a pen between her fingers. An open card sat on the surface  of her vanity table. So far she had only written 'To Eli', she had brought a card with a blank inside for her to write her own message.

She had the intention to write a personal message to him, but could she think of what to write? No. Nothing came to her. Not even when she darkened her room out with only a lamp illuminating the space, lit a scented candle or began listening to sappy love songs. She couldn't put into words how she felt about him. It would be weird to ask her parents for help, she wanted this message to come from the heart.

Why was this harder than homework?

She wondered who the most romantic person in her life was. Demetri? Definitely not. Sam? Not really. Aisha? No. Miguel? He did plan that romantic sounding chocolate date for Sam, but no.

Just then, someone came to mind. Phoebe sighed as she picked up her phone and called one of the people she would never ever call.

The video call got accepted and Moon's face appeared on her screen. "Hi, Phoebe. What's up?"

"Do you have a minute to talk?"

"Yeah, Yasmine just left so I have all night."

"Great, wonderful. I'm trying to write a message for tomorrow and I can't think of what to write..."

"A romantic message. Oh, how cute! Is it for Hawk?"

"Of course it is. He's my boyfriend."

"Your aura is bright red."
