Miguel and Hawk rolled to the dojo on their black electric scooters. Both teenagers were dressed for training and had their gi's in their backpacks. Swerving around the corner to the side of Nestor's mini mart, they stopped and stepped off their vehicles.
Since it was the beginning of summertime and school had ended, Hawk had convinced his parents to allow him to continue training. He told his parents that he needed some type of social interaction, otherwise he'd go completely insane in the house. He desperately didn't want to sit in his room moping with his own thoughts in not being allowed to see anyone.
Taking his backpack off the handle and slinging it over one shoulder, the blue haired teenager mentioned, "So I get my license next week."
Miguel nodded, "Uh-huh."
"My mom's going to give me her Sentra hopefully in June when this stupid grounding is over. I'm thinking about putting a blue racing stripe down the middle, hood to tail."
"Subtle, I like it." The champ laughed.
"Yeah, I get to take Phoebe out on actual dates now myself without my mom driving us."
"I'm sure she'll be happy. Speaking of the devil, look who it is." Miguel pointed over to their right and saw Phoebe walking across the car park over to them, also with a backpack.
"Hey." She jogged the last few metres to the two boys. She quite admired the fact that Eli wore a grey sleeveless vest like shirt. His slightly muscular arms were on full display. Just like they had been at the tournament.
"Hey, babe." Hawk pulled her in for a kiss. "How did it go?"
"I got my license. I passed the test." Phoebe competed her little victory with a victory dance. It just consisted of her hands doing a motion as if she were stirring a large pot of something and then she nearly tripped over absolutely nothing.
"Oh, just wait. I've just got that forever." Miguel said. He smirked as he had sneakily taken his phone out of his pocket and filmed Phoebe doing her little dance and the trip.
"You didn't." Phoebe glared at him.
"I did."
"Send it to me." Hawk smiled.
"Why?" Miguel asked.
"You know, just getting a few of Phoebe's embarrassing moments. So I can tease her with them."
"Ha ha ha. Very funny." Phoebe said sarcastically. "I hate you."
"No, you don't." Her boyfriend put an arm around her waist.
The girl huffed. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Kayla exit her black Dodge. She hoped she didn't see it.
Hawk saw who Phoebe was looking at and scowled. Out of nowhere, he hugged her tightly to hopefully perk up her mood from their teasing and seeing Kayla.
"Eli. Can't breathe." She choked out. He just lifted her up and kissed her again before putting her down. "What was that for?"
Hawk smirked and shrugged, "Just because." He noticed a ton of teenagers standing by the door of the dojo. None he recognised. "Looks like we got some new students. Fresh fish." The trio walked up to the door.
A few at the front began whispering and one said, "It's the champs."
Hawk nudged Miguel, "Check this out."
"Don't." Miguel muttered.
"Hey, mouth-breathers, move it."
The two male teenagers at the front immediately moved out of the way to let them get to the door. "Sorry about that."
