Madison's pov
We picked up Ashton and Luke telling them simply it was serious and we needed to leave now. After agreeing to explain later we got in the car and headed to the Cemetery. I sat in the back clutching to Ashton for dear life. I didn't like this at all. We were about to use a damn Ouija board, something i was told not to touch as a child. My mom was the religous type, not crazy Christian, but religous. We weren't allowed to watch demonic movies in the house for fear that we would have paranormal activity. I was always told connecting with spirits was an easy access to possession but I needed answers. I couldn't let this just slide by. Thinking about what we were doing freaked me out causing me to panic. I moved closer to Ashton and began to cry.
"Are you crying?" He asked lifting my chin, but I couldn't speak.
"I just dont want to lose you." I managed sending a puzzled look across his face.
"Ok what the hell is going on?" He yelled as we pulled up to the cemetery.
"I'll explain once we're in, now lets go." Lexa said slamming the door. When we woke up it was a bright day but now storm clouds had rolled and it was dark and humid. Normally I would care about what a hot mess I was but there was too much on my mind. The cemetery was closed today so we had to sneak in the back. We made our way to the middle where there was a small circle with four benches. Lexa set up the board in the middle and we all sat around it.
"Ok Lexa, we're here, now talk." Luke said trying his hardest not to sound frustrated.
"Madison and I recently discovered we are connected by a bond. Now we need to find out where it started and how to stop it before the past can take our soul." She explained. Lukes eyes went big and he stared at Ashton.
"So you think this thing is going to kill you and take over your bodies?" He asks concerned.
"Well, take our souls and use our body as a host to have their happily ever after." Lexa shrugged.
"Lex, maybe we should rethink this," I said taking her hand, but at that most it was like a small shock went through paralyzing us in place. My vision blurred and then dark. I felt myself fall backwards but it didn't hurt then I looked over to see myself laying on the floor. Everyone was gathered around me trying to make me come to but I don't know how to go back, I don't even understand how I'm staring at myself right now. I began walking closer until I heard a childs laughter. I turned around to see the cemetery had turned into just an open field with a small house and shed. I walked that way and saw two children playing. One looked a tad like Lexa and the other like me. Were these the spirits of our past?
"You'll never catch me Susie!" The one resembling me yelled.
"Oh yes I will Mary Beth!" She giggled uncontrollably. I laughed as they played until a very large male came walking out.
"Mary Beth!" He yelled grabbing her by the wrist. "I've told you time and time before we do NOT play with the lower class." He said smacking her.
"Dad I'm sorry, she's my only friend, please." She cried. At that time an older woman ran out and grabbed Susie with a tall dark haired women behind her.
"Bob, please it was just an innocent mistake-"
"Shut the hell up Margaret," he screamed. "I have told her once and never again, next time it happens I will kill them both. She may be my only daughter but I can have another, one that will actually listen and respect her parents." He began stomping off before turning to who I assuned was Susie's mother. "Keep your child in check! You're all worthless, nothing but trash!" He screamed once more before going back inside.
"Lets go Mary Beth." Margaret said grabbing her hand.
"Goodbye Susie." She waved sadly.
"Bye." Susie waved back with tears in her eyes. I sat on the hill trying to think about what had happened. They still lived so close to each other why did they want to come back. But day turned to night and a small red headed child came out along with with a little brown curly haired one. They played and giggled before laying in the grass.
"I'm sorry about my dad." Mary Beth whispered.
"Why does he hate me?" Susie asked.
"Because you're different." She sighed. "That's why he hates me too." They layed for a few more minutes before Bob came out in a rage yelling for Mary Beth. The children ran fast yelling for help but it was too late. Bob pulled out a gun and shot Susie.
"Dad please no!" Mary Beth yelled as he threw her over his shoulder.
"You didn't take me seriously did you?!" He yelled smacking her hard. "Well now your friend is dead and its all your fault, how can you live with yourself." He screamed. How could he live with himself? These girls looked no older than five and he killed one while abusing the other. My eyes filled with tears as he continued to beat Mary Beth. I tried to help but I had no voice and it was as though there were bricks on my feet. He beat her until she stopped moving. Mary Beth, along with Susie, was dead. I closed my eyes and began crying uncontrollably. I felt sympathy for these kids and understood why they wanted a second chance but what happened was not our fault. I layed back in the grass and fell asleep. I woke up surrounded by the boys and Lexa.
"Oh my God you're awake!" She yelled pulling me in tight.
"What happened." Ashton asked me, scooping me into his arms.
"I'm not exactly sure," I answered honestly. "But I think I saw the girls that want our souls." I was still trying to catch my breath.
"What do you mean?" Mikey asked with true concern.
"I saw them, they were killed, they want a second chance, it was terrifying." The thought came back and I began to cry once more. Ashton calmed me down and I finally had to explain what I had just witnessed. My first out of body experience was horrible and I never wanted to have another one.
"Lets just get back to the Ouija board." I sighed moving back into place. Thats right, the girl who is terrified of the stupid game would rather play it than talk about what happened in the field.
