Lexa's POV
A scream made my legs break out into a run. "Madison!" I shrieked. My eyes frantically searching the backyard.
"Luke!" I heard Ashton yell from behind me. I turned around quickly to see Ash pointing somehwere next to me. A light teal ball of gas was floating. Moving along slowly. A scream left my mouth and I stepped away.
"Its her soul! Catch it. Lexa, find Madison! Calum and Mikey go make sure no one is home!" Luke commanded. Her soul? Susie took her soul! But how was she going to use it? Did she know where Mary Beth is? Was she going give it to her?
I did as I was told and started scouting the area. I searched the large bushes and found nothing. I circled the tree that the treehouse was on and still nothing. "Madison, please. Where are you?"
In the tree house. It was Madison. Her voice was strong and loud. Unlike her. Susie attacked me. She took my soul. I can no longer breathe, Lexa you have to save me.
"How do I do that?" I asked as I started climbing the ladder. With every step my heart sank and pounded loud against my chest. The palms of my hands grew sweaty and i swear ive blinked at least a thousand times already.
When i finally found her an ear piercing scream filled the air. "Madison!" I yelled. I dropped to my knees and sobbed. My shoulder shook controllably. I was hyperventilating. "Madison! No!" I screamed louder. I crawled over to her and and I felt the hot tears run down my face. My heart stopped the moment I reached out and touched her cheek. She was ice cold. No sign of life at all. Her blue eyes were open and they rest on the ceiling. I bit my lip and hugged my knees to my chest. Rocking back and forth I heard my name called out. It sounded like Ashton, but I could be wrong because both Ash and Luke sound the same when they yell.
"I am so sorry." I whispered. My chin quivered. I looked at my best friend. Her body was sprawled out awkwardly. Her legs were pressed together and bent to the side. Her arms are straight out to the sides of her.
"This is all my fault. This all my fault. I should have died!" I told her.
Stop blaming yourself. I heard her once more.
"What am I going to do without you? How am I gonna live! Madison, I can't do it." I whispered to her lifeless body.
To save me, you have to save yourself.
"What does that even mean?" I asked. My hand clutched my stomach from the pain of crying too much. I couldn't stop though. The hiccups came back. I screwed my eyes closed and I said a prayer.
"Dear, whoever is listening. I'm sorry I don't know how to do this. I'm not religious, but Madison is. I need you to help her. She doesn't deserve to die. She has her whole life planned out. She was going to graduate in the top ten percentile for our class. She was going to get married and have kids. And now she can't," I sob uncontrollably, "take me instead. I am the one who pushed the Ouija board! I am the rebel one! I deserve this, not her! Please, please, please help her. Bring her back. Her family needs her. God, please." I finished the prayer as my voice became barely audible. The boys were still screaming my name.
"Don't come up here!" I yelled down. "Don't or I will hate you guys forever!"
"Lexa-" Luke pleaded.
"No!" I scream quite loudly. I turned to Madison and gave another weak cry. Just a foot away from her was her unicorn, Fredrick. I crawled over and took him in my hands, placing him next to my best friend. I looped her arm around him and I laid on my back next to her. My hand interlocked with her freezing one.
I cried myself to sleep by my dead best friend.
