Cassiopeia, The Pure

Chapter 1

Roland and I walked through the hall hand in hand. Roland was the future alpha and my boyfriend.
"I love you Cass I'll see you later" Roland said kissing my cheek.
"I love you Ro see you later" I said smiling back at him. He walked away when Raya showed up.
"I'm so glad you're my best friend Cassie, I don't know what I'd do without you" Raya said as we walked down the hall to our next class. Raya and I had grown up together, our dads were best friends so we had been best friend since we were 3. She was my oldest friend besides Kyla and Mekhi. Kyla and I had been friends since we were 8. Mekhi and I had been friends since we were 9.
"Happy 16th Birthday Cassie" Kyla and Mekhi said in unison as they appeared next to us.
"Thank you all. I love you guys so much." I said smiling at all of them. My father Huxley is second in command and my mother Maliyah is the principal of the school and she is the one everybody confided in. My mother is the most trusted, brilliant, caring person and she gave the best advice.
"And we love you" Raya said bumping me playfully with her shoulder. We all had math together so we walked in and stood at our table talking. Florence Quint, the guidance counselor and my mothers best friend, walked in crying as she approached our table.

"Is everything okay Ms. Quint?" I asked worried.
"Cass there's been an accident, both of your parents are in the hospital." Ms. Quint said pulling me into a hug. I stood frozen in place, did I hear her right? Is she talking to someone else? How could this have happened? I was lost in thought.
"Can I take her to the hospital to see her parents?" Raya asked Ms. Quint.
"Yes please she shouldn't be alone, I'll notify teachers and parents." Ms. Quint said before walking out.
"Come on Cassie, I'll drive you to the hospital." Raya said pulling me into a hug.
I nodded before following her out to her car. When we arrived the Salutary, Amayah, was running around from room to room. Salutary's are herbal wolves they heal and care for the ill and injured, there's usually only one per pack. Salutary's do have low ranking wolves who help as a somewhat nurse.
"Cassiopeia! Please come to my office and have a seat I'll be with you in a minute!" Amayah said running around helping the injured. There were at least 5 wolves injured but none of them were my parents. Raya and I walked to Amayah's office and waited for her to come. We waited about 10 minutes before Amayah entered the office.
"Raya can we have a minute?" Amayah immediately said as she entered.
"Please can she stay? Whatever is said is okay to be said in front of her" I asked quietly.
"Okay.. Cass I'm sorry to deliver the news but your parents did not survive. They came with extensive injuries and all the medicine in the world couldn't have saved them. They were doing a training session and the rocks on Hurst Mountain started falling fast it and your parents died saving everyone else." She said before quietly giving me time to process. Tears began to fall, how could this happen? Why my parents?

"I really need to get back to the others Cass but I'm truly so sorry.." Amayah said and I just nodded.
"Are you okay Cass?" Raya asked still in just as much shock as me.
"Can you take me home please?" I asked quietly and she nodded. We didn't speak in the car until we pulled in my drive.
"I'll talk to you tomorrow, okay?" Raya asked and I nodded.
"I love you Cass" she said.
"I love you Raya" I replied before shutting the car door. When I got inside I ran to my parents room and crawled in their bed and cried. I didn't leave their bed all night until I had to get up for school. As I got ready for school I decided sweat pants and a sweat shirt would be fine and I put them on. I decided just to put my hair in a messy bun. I expected Raya to pick me up but she texted saying she can't make it. I sighed my day is already shitty, I grabbed my bag and run to catch the bus. When I can see the bus stop, I see the bus pulling up so I run faster and yell for someone to have them wait. Three people looked to me yelling and got on so I figured they told them to wait so I stopped yelling and just ran. A few seconds later the bus started to take off, as it drove away the students watched me out the window. So they had heard me but they didn't stop the bus, that's strange. I'm on good terms with everybody but most people are good with me because my father was the second in command. It was a 2.5 mile walk to school on our reservation. Our pack owned a small town, the school was in the back of our territory that faced woods. The whole town was surrounded by woods with only one way in and one way out the alphas house was right at the front of the property and my house was behind it. Our town was 20 miles from stores and civilization so we stayed away from the human world unless we needed to shop. I was an hour late to school, I missed first period. When I entered the school everyone was headed to their second period classes. I saw Raya, Mekhi, and Kyla so I walked to them.

"You won't believe the morning I've had." I said walking up to them. Nobody replied they just looked to their feet.
"What's the matter with you guys?" I said quietly.
"Cass we love you so much just know that but because your parents died my parents are taking their place and you've been deemed cursed so our parents won't let us hang out with you or talk to you anymore. We're so sorry" Raya said quietly "we wish you the best of luck." I stood in shock this can not be happening. I saw Roland, I ran to him happy to see him. I tried to hug him and he stepped back.
"What you can't talk to me either?" I asked quietly.
"No Cass I can but I'm not going to see you anymore. You're viewed as cursed and I'm the future alpha. I can't have a weak and cursed Luna. I'm sorry" he said walking away.
As I walked to class everyone stared at me but no one spoke to me they just avoided me. When I reached my class I stopped outside the classroom to breathe before I walked in but before I made it in the room I heard someone call me out for me.
"Ms. Solace" Ms. Quint said behind me. I turned and looked at her she looked sad.
"I'm so sorry about your loss dear. I need you to come with me. You have a meeting with the Alpha Demari and Zeta Kartier." She said quietly. I nodded as I followed her.
