Chapter 17

We drove for about 5 minutes before we came to a stop outside of a church. Zeke opened the door and held out his hand for me again. I took his hand as I got out of the car, when I was out of the car he wrapped his arm around me pulling me to his side. We walked inside the front door and down past the isles. People gasped as they saw us, they started whispering.
"He found his mate?"
"I've never seen him with a woman."
"Wow she's beautiful"
I heard people saying as we walked, these comments made me smile. Just the thought that I'm the first one he's shown off or even been with makes me happy. As we reached the stage, I sat next to Brecken as Zeke walked to the podium.
"First and foremost yes I've found my mate. Cassie is now your luna. That's not the reason we called you here today. It's not my story to tell what all happened but I'm sure if you ask her she'll tell you. What I can tell you is she's from the Lunarfire Pack, she was alpha Roland's mate and he threw her aside." He started and everyone gasped.

"When she was in transformation he tried to attack her and she ran here where we met. Roland and his men showed up trying to take her back but we did not let that happen. Because we wouldn't let them have her, they have declared war on us. They plan to attack us Monday night but Cassie has a plan. Will you hear her out?" He asked. Everyone in the crowd said yes. I approached the podium, I was shaking slightly but Zeke didn't leave my side. He grabbed my hand and squeezed letting me know he was here.
"I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to formally meet the right way. I'm sorry my presence is causing so much trouble. I wanna start with if you do not wish to fight, you will not be made to fight. If you do wish to fight, you will not fight alone. I will stand next to you, helping you and protecting you because you are my pack and I caused this mess by being here. I know people are probably worried about the injured, the expecting mothers, and the children. When I was rejected and banished I was sent to the human world. There I have a place where I would like to take the children, injured and the women who are pregnant. This is not their fight, alpha Roland and his men will target the vulnerable so we need them somewhere safe. I understand if you don't want them to go but I plead that you let them. Keep our next generation safe. Anybody who does not wish to fight may also stay there for their safety. It's nothing fancy but it's safer then what could happen to them if they stayed here." I said over the crowd.

Everyone began to clap and cheer.
"I want to know everyone's thoughts or if they have any ideas on things we can do. If you do not wish to say it aloud we can meet privately and discuss them. I would like a chance to get to know everyone. I want everyone to know who they would be fighting for and I want everyone to know that I will love and protect every single person in this pack. Most of you may have known my parents, their names were Huxley and Maliyah Solace. They died when I was 16 but everyone I've met who knew them loved them. I aspire to be like my mother, she wasn't perfect but she did everything with a purpose and they both died saving other people." I said before I stepped back with tears in my eyes.
"Take your time and think about everything. We'll be hosting dinner at the pack house tonight, bring your families. If you would like to meet with Cassie and I privately you can come by anytime." Zeke said before ending the meeting. We turned to Brecken who was smiling.
"She did amazing. She will make a fine Luna." He said to Zeke.
"That she will" he said kissing the side of my head. We walked back to the car but before we got in we were stopped by a woman.
"Can I have a moment alone with Cassie?" She asked. I nodded to Zeke and walked to the side with her.
"My name is Aviana my husband is the delta his name is Dakari. I just wanted to tell you that your parents saved my life when I was pregnant with my twins a couple of years ago. I was attacked by rogues and they showed up defending me and helped me back to the pack. Everyone here knew and loved you parents. If there's anyone who is more fit to save us and protect our babies it's the beautiful person they raised." She said. Tears began to form in my eyes at her words. I hugged her tightly.
"Thank you for trusting me Aviana. If you ever need anything, you come find me. That goes for anybody in this pack. No matter what happens I will always help and protect my own." I said to her. She said her goodbyes and I returned to the car.

As we arrived home I began to feel more at peace. As Zeke and I walked inside, I turned towards him.
"I want to cook the dinner" I said quietly.
"I have some work to catch up on but you're more than welcome to do whatever you want as this is your house my love" he said. He kissed me softly.
"I'll be in our office if you need me my love" he said before turning away. I walked to the kitchen and there was a woman in there looking through recipes.
"Hi I'm Cassie" I said greeting her.
"I'm Ava, I'm the cook. I honestly have no idea what I'm going to cook for this dinner. Alpha Zeke makes me so mad when he plans things last minute." She mumbled quietly.
"Well as the new Luna and Zekes mate I can try and do my best to make sure he plans ahead more" I said laughing. Her eyes went wide.
"I'm so sorry I meant no disrespect." She said quickly.
"None taken it is perfectly okay to express your opinions to us. We like to know your thoughts and opinions on things especially if it involves your job" I said smiling. I could visibly see her relax.
"What can I do for you? Are you hungry?" She asked quickly.
"No no no I came to cook dinner for tonight, if you would like you can have the day off or if you would like you can assist me?" I asked her.
"I'm all yours. What did you have in mind to make for dinner?" She asked curiously. I thought for a minute.
"I was thinking cheeseburger sliders, with sautéed asparagus pasta, homemade loaded baked potato mashed potatoes, and a tomato, cucumber, and onion salad" I said.
"Can I eat dinner with you all? That sounds amazing!" She said.
"Anytime I cook dinner in this kitchen, you can eat whatever you want" I said laughing.
