Chapter 42

As I was running I could smell the rogues, their scent was strong. 'How could Zeke lose the scent?' I wondered. I felt a connection coming in and so I let it in, it was Brecken.
"Cass where are you?" He mindlinked.
"In the woods, headed to Zeke." I mindlinked.
"Stop. Do not go any further, wait for me please?" He mindlinked. He sounded very frantic.
"What is going on?" I mindlinked but I felt the connection cut off. I didn't go any further, I waited for Brecken. I heard someone coming so I turned and got ready to fight in case it was rogues but I saw Brecken running towards me in human form. He had only boxers on but had a shirt in his hand.
"Shift to human form and put this on." He said before turning away from me. I did as he had said.
"What is going on Brecken?" I said when I finished putting the shirt on.
"Nobody can find Zeke, I haven't seen him in half an hour." He said worried.
"I just spoke to him though." I said.
"Kyla is also missing, Cassie. I think the rogues are after all 3 of you. I think they're threatening Kyla's life to get Zeke to lure you to them." He said.

"He did sound a bit off when I spoke to him and he agreed to let me come into the woods by myself with rogues about to meet him with you. That's not like him." I said aloud but more of to myself.
"Exactly Cassie, when would either of us let you do that?" He asked.
"Never. Okay I have an idea. Your mom still has her wolf correct?" I asked.
"Yes" He said.
"She still gives off the Luna aurora, correct?" I asked.
"Uh yeah, what are you thinking?" He asked confused.
"Okay, we're going to go get your mom. I'm going to mindlink Amoura to meet us and tell Meadow to be ready in case there are any injuries." I said and he looked at me confused but nodded.
I pushed a connection to Amoura and Meadow until I felt it connect with both of them.
"Amoura I need you to meet me at the pack house but be careful on your way. Meadow be prepared in case there's anymore injuries." I mindlinked quickly.
"Everything okay Cassie?" Meadow mindlinked.
"We believe the rogues have Zeke and Kyla and are using Kyla to get Zeke to lure me to them. But they don't know what wolf me looks like so I'm going to ask Marcie to go in my place and have Amoura come with me to watch my back as I save them." I mindlinked quickly.
"You're brilliant Cassie. I'll be there soon" Amoura mindlinked.
"Both of you be careful" meadow mindlinked before we broke the connection.

Brecken and I ran to the pack house arriving at the same time as Amoura. We all went in the house together as we approached Marcie.
"What is going on? Where is Zeke and Kyla?" Marcie said with a worried expression. Brecken explained his suspicions and she looked even more worried.
"Marcie, I'm not Luna yet. Not officially. Technically you are so you give off the Luna aurora still. These rogues don't know what I looked like in wolf form. I'm going to ask the hugest favor and I hope you can find it in yourself to trust me even though you don't know me. I need you to go with Brecken pretending to be me. Amoura and I will go from the opposite side and we will save them both." I said to her.
"How are you going to save them if you're not a luna yet? You'll need Luna strength." She asked concerned.
"I'm a pure werewolf. I have abilities nobody has and I also have the strength of a Luna without being a Luna. Plus I have Amoura, there's nobody I trust more to watch my back." I said smiling at Amoura.

"Okay then let's do this but Cassie get Zeke back alive." She said.
"I have no intention of letting anything bad happen to him. I couldn't live without him." I said in response. She smiled at my words. She shifted and headed with Brecken. Amoura and I shifted and headed in from a different direction. As we got close, we hid but stayed where we could see everything going on. There were 5 rogues, Zeke was tied to a tree in human form and one of the rogues had ahold of Kyla. She was crying and hurt, rage seeped through me at the sight. Suddenly Marcie appeared in wolf form.
"Is this Cassie?" A rogue asked Zeke. I pushed a mindlink through to Zeke and sent it connect.
"Tell them it's me, I'm close by. I love you no matter what happens" I mindlinked before disconnecting the mindlink quickly.
"I asked you a question" a rogue yelled at Zeke.
"Yes, it's Cassie. Don't you see the Luna aurora you fools" Zeke said sarcastically.

"The only fools I see are you 3 who literally walked into a trap." The rogue snapped back. Marcie's wolf growled loudly.
"Don't even think about doing anything stupid, I'll kill this girl." The rogue holding Kyla said to her as he wrapped a claw around her throat. Rogues were a treacherous form of werewolf. They could shift but in wolf form they were scrawny and had missing chunks of hair all over their body and in human form they never looked human. They still had their claws, paws for hands and feet, wolf eyes, and patches of hair all over but would have human arms, legs, torso and faces. They were the ugliest form of our species because they had abandoned all of their kind, lost all morality and had given up any humanity they had all while abandoning the moon goddess so after you stayed a rogue for 1 year, she cursed them so that they could never look normal. It was her way of making becoming a rogue less common among packs. It also prevented them from running to the human world and starting war or hiding. I was blessed to have not become one like that but I never had forsaken the moon goddess, never lost my humanity or my morality.

If you keep your connection with the moon goddess and keep your morality and humanity in tact she doesn't curse you. I was lucky compared to these rogues before me. When I saw his claws by her throat, my anger rose more. I could feel the power raising inside of me but I seemed to have no control on stopping it. I mindlinked Brecken and Amoura.
"I have to do something. I have no control over my emotions right now." I mindlinked.
"What's the plan Cass?" Brecken mindlinked back.
"I don't know, I just have to do something but I need to think and my mind can't focus" I mindlinked back.
"Why don't we have Brecken get Kyla and the rogue holding her, he can come from behind. Cassie gets the rogue by Zeke and unties Zeke and they get the other one close by, I'll go for the one in the center and then Marcie can get the one in front of her" Amoura mindlinked. I agreed then I mindlinked Zeke and Marcie letting them know the plan, they both agreed silently.
