Chapter 27

After smelling the flower, I knew Roland was doing more than anyone ever thought. I had to help my pack. I tried to think of a way to help. Suddenly I remembered Zeke's words 'Remember that you are a special breed Cassie. You have gifts nobody else does. Use them when you need too.' I had never used them before though, I didn't even know how. I had to figure it out, I thought hard about what I read as a kid. A book I had read awhile ago said they would stop, take a deep breath, clear their mind and focus. I did just that, I took a deep breath, clearing my mind of the chaos around me. Suddenly I felt powerful, I lunged forwards and when my paws hit the ground. I felt the ground beneath me tremble knocking many over and causing many others to stumble. Everyone stopped fighting and looked to me.
'Cassie you're glowing blue' Zeke mindlinked me. I payed him no attention. I walked to Roland and I spoke.
"This ends now! You are using middlemist red flower, for that you must pay for your crimes at the foot of Zeta Kartier. If you can not accept this, I will kill you where you stand." I growled loudly. Everyone stared at me, I felt a hand on my back and I turned quickly. Zeta Kartier was standing behind me.
"You have made me so proud Cassie. I will deal with Roland, he also has crimes to pay for threatening to attack my home where my wife is. Take your pack home, be the best Luna to them." Kartier said. I rubbed my head against his hand in agreement. Kartiers men appeared from the woods and they grabbed Roland, one of them stuck him with a needle. Suddenly Roland shifted back to human form and passed out. Must have been wolfsbane, toxic and known to weaken wolves. They carried Roland away. Zeke appeared behind me in human form.
"Everyone look away" he yelled loudly. When they did I shifted back and put on the sweatshirt he held in his hand. It was so big, it covered my upper thighs easy.

"Who will be the new Alpha?" I asked Kartier.
"Bronson Thatcher, will fill in for Alpha for now. He did the right thing. He came to me this morning and told me all of Roland's plans, how he had been running things and treating people and he told me of the middlemist red flower" Kartier said. I nodded. Kartier announced Bronson as Alpha to the whole crowd. Bronson appeared out of the woods approaching Zeke and I.
"I never wanted any of this. My family has suffered enough at the hands of Alpha Roland. I had big shoes to fill after Huxley died. I'm sorry I couldn't be more like him but I went to Zeta Kartier in hopes that I could somehow make Huxley proud." Bronson said looking to me.
"You're an honorable man for what you have done." I said to him with a small smile.
"Raya has suffered so much but so have you Cassie. I'm sorry I banned her from being your friend when your parents died. I'm sorry I let you go through everything alone. I need to free my daughter" he said quietly.
"I already did. Sort of. I wasn't sure if I could trust her, so she's tied up in a truck with Jaxon." I said looking down.
"Nobody could ever have as big of a heart as you. Nobody is better fit to be a Luna than you are Cassie. I must request my daughter though." He said. I nodded.
"She's all yours sir" I said. I turned to Brecken and he nodded before running to fetch them all. A few minutes later he pulled up in a truck, Leilany was in the front and in the backseat Willow and Kyla sat. As he parked the truck he helped Raya out, he untied her and she ran to Bronson.

Bronson hugged her tightly.
"What about Willow and Kyla?" I asked him.
"They have no need to be serving any time, they can stay if they wish or go if they wish." He said to me. I nodded and walked to the truck.
"You are both free, you can stay here if you wish too. Alpha Roland is no longer a problem, Bronson is Alpha now. He did right by you all." I said to them.
"I'll stay, as I have been a member of this pack my whole life. Since Roland's not in charge maybe some order can be restored." Willow said.
"Can I go with you?" Kyla asked.
"Well of course, don't you wanna stay with your dad though?" I asked her. She began to cry.
"Alpha Roland had his head publicly removed for standing up for her. She has no parents. You know how it goes with no parents here." Willow said quietly.
"If you want to come with me you're more than welcome Kyla but things aren't the same here as when my parents died. How old are you?" I asked her.
"13" she replied "I don't want to stay, there's only bad reminders."
I nodded and walked to Bronson and Zeke. I told them about the decisions made.
"What about Jaxon? He's a good guy, he was just trying to survive" Bronson said.
"Jaxon isn't up for debate for me. He's coming with us because I made a promise to my sister." I said. Bronson nodded in understanding.
"We should get home, attend to our wounded" Zeke said.
"We also have a wedding to plan" I said smiling at him. He smiled back as he pulled me to his side.
"Congratulations on the engagement" Bronson said.
"Thank you. Anyone who has only good intentions and such can attend. We'll send you an invite" Zeke said. Bronson and Zeke shook hands before we all loaded up and headed home. Zeke and I drove the first vehicle, Leilany drove Breckens truck since he was injured and they followed behind us. We had the whole drive home alone so I took it to ask a question.
"What do you think about Kyla?" I asked.
"She seems like a good girl, how old is she?" He asked.
"13, her parents are dead." I said looking to him. He looked at me knowingly.
"Then she can stay with us, we'll take care of her" he said. I grabbed his hand and smiled at him.
"Thank you" I said quietly.
"Anything for you my dear, she can go in the room across from ours" he said squeezing my hand lightly. When we arrived home I went to the truck and got Kyla. I took her inside and walked straight to the kitchen.
"Are you hungry?" I asked her as we walked in and she nodded. Ava was already cooking in the kitchen.
"Cassie! You're home! Is everyone okay? I kind of started freak out cooking because I was worried I hope everyone is hungry, there's plenty for the whole pack." Ava said. I looked around there was food everywhere.

"Ava this is Kyla, she's going to be staying here with Zeke and I. Kyla this is Ava, she's one of the best cooks. If you're ever hungry you can come to her or even myself and we'll make you something." I said to Kyla. She nodded and I heard her stomach growl.
"Get you some food love! I'll be right back I'm going to go tell Zeke that there's dinner for the whole pack. After you eat I'll show you, your room" I said. She smiled and went to the kitchen. I walked outside to where Brecken and Zeke stood with the pack members.
"I called Meadow, everyone is headed home now. They packed up your whole apartment." He said with a small laugh.
"Well is anybody hungry?" I asked everyone. Most replied with a yes instantly.
"Anyone who is hungry can come inside and eat. Ava has made more food than you can imagine. If you're injured we can take a look at you inside. I also have an announcement to make. Everyone is welcome." I said loudly. Zeke and I walked inside together others followed one by one with their families. We all began to eat as Amoura and I looked over injuries between bites. None were too serious, that was a good thing. Jay and Brecken walked in after everyone. Jay was helping him walk and they were talking.
"Dude you should've seen Cassie tear out that dudes throat" Brecken said as he approached Zeke and I. Zeke looked at me shocked. I shrugged and started to look over Breckens leg. He needed some stitches but he'd live. I got out the kit and cleaned his leg and began to stitch it up.
"Can I have a word with Cassie alone?" Brecken asked. Zeke nodded. I helped Brecken stand and walk inside.
