Chapter 28

"So Jaylene is your sister?" He asked cautiously.
"Yes. Why?" I asked curiously.
"She's my mate. I'm not sure if she's noticed but I wanted your blessing before I said anything to her." He said shyly. I smiled, they deserved each other. They're both good people.
"You have my blessing. But if you hurt her.." I paused.
"You'll rip my throat out without a thought, I know" he said with a small nervous laugh.
"Exactly" I said laughing.
"I'll do right but you both I promise" he said smiling.
"I know you will, if anyone deserves this it's her and you. I'm glad you have each other." I said.
"We wouldn't have this opportunity if it wasn't for you. I'm happy to have you as my Luna and Jaylene as my mate" He said as he hugged me. Someone cleared their throat behind us, I looked back and it was Jay.
"Can we have a moment Brecken?" I asked. He nodded and hobbled outside.
"So my instincts are right, he's my mate?" She asked and I nodded.
"Are you okay with that?" I asked.
"Is he a good person?" She asked.
"One of the best. He'll do right by you by any means Jay. I wouldn't let it happen if he wouldn't." I said to her.
"I just need time to get to know him." she said.
"Understandable. There's a room across from his, it's close to mine. You can have it until you're ready or if you decide you don't want him as your mate you can stay there." I said to her. She nodded and hugged me.
"I should go check on Kyla" I said quietly, she nodded in agreement. We walked back outside. Kyla was still eating but close to being done. I walked to Zeke and suddenly everyone from the bus came in with Meadow. I ran up and hugged her.
"I'm glad you're okay" She said.
"Ditto" I said to her. Amoura walked up and hugged her mom and I gave them time to catch up. When Kyla was done eating, she walked over to Zeke and I.

"Everyone can I have your attention please." I said. Everyone grew quiet as they looked at us.
"As some of you know, we brought home a couple of extra people. My sister Jaylene came with us, my brother Jaxon came but we'll decide what to do with him later on and then there's Kyla here" I said as I grabbed her hand and smiled "Alpha Zeke and I have decided we will take her in ourselves. She's 13 and her parents have passed away sadly. As some may know my parents died, in the pack we come from that is a curse. I will not let what happened to me, happen to Kyla. Is everyone okay with these new members?" I asked. Everyone knowingly agreed it was a great idea. I smiled at the thought and Kyla hugged me. Turning back to the pack, I wanted to say thank you.
"Thank you to everyone who fought by my side today. If anybody needs anything or there's anything I can do to repay you, please come talk to me anytime." I said. When I was done everyone resumed their conversations. I grabbed Kyla's hand and led her upstairs to her room.
"This is your room, the door across the hall is the door to my room. If you ever need anything come and get me, okay?" I said to Kyla. She nodded.
"Would you like to see your room?" I asked.
"Yes but I don't have many belongings to begin with and I didn't bring any with me." She said quietly.
"That's okay, I have to work tomorrow but if you like books you can come over and read while I work and after I get done we can go shopping." I said. She smiled at me.
"I love to read" she said excitedly.
"So do I" I said smiling. I opened her door to her room. There was a giant bed with a vanity and a bookcase in the bedroom and off to the side was a door that led to her bathroom. She smiled big.
"This room is 3x the size of my old room" she said happily.
"Wait til you see my room, it has a kitchen, office and living room" I said laughing. She looked at me shocked.
"If you want to shower I can loan you some of my clothes and we can wash yours" I said. She nodded.
"Go ahead and shower when you get out I'll have the clothes on the bed for you, okay? Then you can get some rest and when you wake up, you can come to my room and wake me up." I said.

"Thank you for everything Cassie." She said as she hugged me. I hugged her back tightly. She walked to the bathroom and I went to my closet to find her clothes. I found a pair of old PJs from when I was younger that my mom had bought me. They were my favorite, I smiled remembering the day my mom gave them to me. I took them across the hall and put them on the bed, Kyla had put her clothes on the floor outside of the bathroom. I grabbed them and took them with me to be washed. When I stepped outside Leilany was outside of my door just staring at the door.
"Leilany is everything okay?" I asked. She jumped and turned around.
"Uh yeah.. I wanted to ask.. if I could.. spend some time.." She stuttered.
"With Jaxon?" I asked. She nodded softly.
"Yes but he's staying in the cell for now." I said. She nodded again.
"Are you okay?" I asked her.
"Yeah just still in shock, I can't believe he's my mate. I hope he can be better like you or else I can't be with him." She mumbled. I hugged her.
"I hope he can be better too not just for me but for you" I said quietly.
"Thank you for everything Cassie" She said before turning to walk away. I walked into my room, Zeke was in the bathroom. He was getting in the shower. I stripped out of his sweatshirt and walked into the bathroom. He didn't notice me at first, I walked up and wrapped my arms around him from behind.
"Hi babydoll" he said quietly.
"Hi my love, are you okay?" I asked as I let go and walked around in front of him.
"Yeah just wondering how I got so lucky with you" he said smiling but there was a sadness in his eyes. I grabbed his hand walking us into the shower. I turned it on and sat on the bench.
"That's not all, your eyes are filled with sadness. Talk to me my love." I said quietly. He knelt in front of me.
"I was just thinking of all the things you've been through and how I wasn't there to protect you." He said with tears in his eyes.
"It's okay Zeke. I'm okay. We didn't even know each other then but we're together now, that's what matters. We're going to get married and have a family and run the best pack known to our kind." I said smiling.
