Cassie's POV

"Have you met their parents?" I asked Ava as we walked into the kitchen.
"Yeah, just be careful Cassie. Thaddeus isn't bad but Marcelina.. she's a force to be reckoned with." Ava said glancing at me.
"That bad?" I asked nervously.
"Has anybody ever told you about Zekes ex?" She asked.
"He told me his mom paid her to leave." I said.
"She did more than that. He's just unaware. She was too scared to go to him about it so she took the money and ran. She was one of my best friends. They weren't even that serious, not like you guys are. He never felt for her what he feels for you. She would ruin dates, get her in trouble at home and school, she ruined friendships, and she even told me if I didn't stop being her friend, I'd be banned from the pack. I didn't stop being her friend of course, I just stayed her friend in secret to save her. I didn't care to be banned from the pack then, I hated working for Marcie. She was cruel, nothing I ever cooked was good enough. She called me names, she even hit me a few times. The night they left, was the best night of my life. I don't know if she's the same, I hope not. But if she is, you have to be careful Cassie. She was manipulative and mean but only when the alpha and her sons weren't around." Ava said.
"Well now I'm definitely worried" I said.

"Don't be, maybe she has changed. Honestly if anything happens, go straight to Brecken and Zeke. Tell them the truth. I know they both won't tolerate it." Ava said.
"I'm worried for Jay more than myself. I'm used to being hated and treated that way. She's been through a lot lately, she doesn't need to go through anymore." I said.
"I hope she's changed then" Ava said.
"Me too and if you'd like I can help you make dinner tomorrow so his mom can't complain too much" I said. We began to cook dinner. We made a pot roast bake.
"If she doesn't like your cooking then I don't think she likes any type of food" Ava said with a chuckle. I let out a soft chuckle at the thought of her words.
We put the meal in the oven to bake, it had to bake for 60 minutes so we grab a bottle of wine and some glasses and went out back to enjoy some fresh air. Soon after we sat down Jay and Kyla joined us out back.
"Kyla! It's good to see you out and about, are you enjoying it here?" Ava asked excitedly.
"Yeah I just try to stay out of the way is all." Kyla said quietly.
"Kyla you're never in the way, this is your home now." I said smiling.
"And if you ever feel like you are in the way, come hangout with me. I can always use help cooking or even just some company." Ava said.
"And I have 2 friends and do absolutely nothing all day so you can always bother me." Jay said. She sounded nervous. Kyla smiled at all the reassurance.

"Alpha Zeke said the same things, he also bought me a phone and asked me to start going to school not this Monday but next. I'm excited but nervous." Kyla said smiling.
"He's a really good guy." I said smiling before turning to Jay "how are you holding up?"
"Brecken asked me on a date, I'm so nervous. What if he ends up hating me?" Jay asked. She looked like she might cripple with anxiety at any moment.
"When I first met Brecken, he made me nervous. Now I know he's truly a good guy. Just let him get to know the real you. He's probably just as nervous as you are." I said pouring her a glass of wine to calm her nerves.
"Thank you Cass. I don't know what I would do without you." Jay said.
"Can I have some wine too?" Kyla asked.
"One glass, that's it." I said giving into the puppy dog look she shot my way. She smiled and nodded. I felt hands on my shoulders and I knew by the familiarity, it was Zeke.
"Hi, my love" I said without looking back.
"What're you ladies up too?" He asked as he leaned down and kissed the top of my head.
"Just enjoying the weather, would you like to join us?" I asked smiling.

"I'll join you in anything you do, my dear. I came to let Jay know Brecken was looking for her." He said, looking to Jay.
"Where's he at?" She asked him.
"He's up in his room, he said just to have you go there. He has a surprise for you." Zeke said. I could see her anxiety rise.
"Don't worry, I saw it. It's cute. I think you'll love it." I said, trying to reassure her. She smiled and nodded her head before heading back inside.
"I'm going to head to check on dinner, Kyla would you like to join me?" Ava asked.
"Yeah of course!" Kyla said as she stood up to follow Ava. Within only a few moments, Zeke and I were alone. I felt his gaze on the side of my face.
"You're so beautiful" he said quietly causing me to smile and blush slightly.
"Are you excited to see your mom tomorrow?" I asked quietly.
"Eh, I mean it'll be nice to see them but only thing ever on my mind is you." Zeke said.
"Ditto my love." I said.
"Are you nervous?" He asked me.
"A little but nothing I can't handle." I said in response.
"If anything happens, promise you'll talk to me about it?" Zeke asked. I nodded.

"Let's go see if dinners done?" I asked.
"I'll go anywhere with you." He said, winking.
"You're so cheesy." I said, smiling. I grabbed his hand and we walked back inside together.
"How's dinner going?" I asked Ava.
"It'll be done in just a few minutes. I just need to set the table after I get done cutting this up." She said.
"I will set the table for you." I said smiling. I walked to the cabinets and began grabbing dishes to set the table. When I looked over Zeke was grabbing silverware. We took it all to the table and began setting the table as Kyla grabbed some different drink options for everyone. Kyla grabbed the apple juice out of the fridge and another bottle of wine before turning to Zeke.
"What do you want to drink with dinner?" She asked him.
"Can you grab me a bottle of scotch?" He asked. She nodded and she went to grab the scotch. I grabbed him a glass and placed some ice in the cup before putting it at his spot on the table. Ava brought 2 wine glasses and the pot roast bake to the table. We all sat at the table and got our drinks. It was weird with just the 4 of us but it was still a happy occasion. We're all family, that's what matters. We all talked over our days and random things while we ate.
