"Kolas..."
The next morning, I was waken up by her soft voice calling my name. Nakaluhod siya sa harapan ko habang nakahiga ako sa sofa.
"Oh..." pumungas-pungas pa akong naupo. I opened my one eye as I asked her. "What's the matter?"
"I'm not pregnant anymore..." she whispered.
Para akong binuhusan ng malamig na tubig sa ulo at tuluyang nagising ang diwa ko.
Marami pa siyang sinabi para i-explain sa akin ang nangyayari, na dinugo daw siya at hindi na siya buntis. Pero hindi ko na 'yon maintindihan.
Agad ko siyang sinugod sa ospital at tinawagan ang kaniyang Papa tungkol sa nangyari. I even informed Mama about it sa sobrang pagpa-panic ko.
"Kolas! You don't need to do that!" she yelled.
"Nalaglagan ka!" I pointed out.
"Hindi ako nalaglagan!" giit niya. "Nireregla ako!"
I creased my eyebrows.
"What?"
She heaved a sigh and rolled her eyes.
"I think it was a false-positive. I don't know what happened but I am sure this was a false pregnancy."
"So you are not really pregnant since the beginning?"
She nodded.
"Are you sure?" tanong ko pa.
"I am sure. It's my body, I know how to understand them. And this time, alam kong regla lang 'to..."
"Paano?" napahilamos ako sa aking mukha. "I mean, you thought you're pregnant but then you're not?"
She sighed. "I think the PT I used was expired. Doon may error..."
Dumating ang doctor at kinumpirma ang hinala ni Taliya. It was indeed a false preganancy. Hindi siya buntis at walang laman ang kaniyang sinapupunan.
"But she craved for ramen last night. Kagabi lang ay sabi niyang nagc-crave siya doon. Hindi ba ganoon ang mga buntis?" takang tanong ko.
"False pregnancy from a false-positive result of the PT she used could led her body act as if she was really pregnant. Because psychologically, she was convinced she is," saad ng babaeng doktor. "And she craved for ramen most probably because it's one of the signs that she is on her day of the month."
Natulala ako. An unforgotten memory flashed before my eyes.
"What the fuck?" mahinang mura ko sa sarili.
Binalingan ng doktor si Taliya.
"Ilang linggo mo nang inakalang nagdadalang tao ka?"
"Four weeks and three days," sagot ni Taliya.
Through the help of the doctor, they were able to track of this misunderstanding.
The doctor also recommend to run some tests to confirm that there's no other issue inside her body. She said the false-positive result can be blame because of medical conditions.
Kaya naman kinuhaan niya ng dugo si Taliya para doon sa blood test.
Umalis na ang doctor sa kwarto kaya naman kaming dalawa nalang ang naiwan doon. Nagtama ang mga mata namin.
Nabasa niya ang mga tanong sa mga mata ko na para bang may kung anong nakakonekta sa aming dalawa. Na kahit wala kaming sabihin ay naiintindihan namin ang isa't isa.
