NEVER LET ME GO - FLORENCE + THE MACHINE
'never let me go, never let me go, never let me go, never let me go,'

Rory was in the Slytherin common room with her friends, just chatting as usual. She still hadn't told them about what Lupin told her yesterday. Should she tell them? What if they stopped being friends with her? The overwhelming thoughts flooded through her confused brain as she considered what to do.

Surely she should tell them, right? They were her best friends! They deserved to know. Rory took a deep breath before speaking, having made up her mind. "There's something I need to tell you."

"What's up?" Mattheo asked.

Rory took another deep breath, "Lupin— my dad, talked to me yesterday."

"And?" Draco asked.

"I wasn't finished, Malfoy."

He rolled his eyes, "Carry on."

"He told me something— something I've been worried about for a while now. You know all of the fainting and pains I've been having recently?"

"Yeah," Theo said slowly.

"Well turns out there's a reason behind it all. Since my dad is a werewolf, I'm bound to inherit it. The symptoms I've been having mean that it's basically proven that I'll be one. I'm due to have my first transition at the age of thirteen to fifteen." She studied everyone's faces and their eyebrows were risen or their jaws were hung loose. "Say something, someone." Rory sighed, regret flooding her brain.

"Oh, Rory, I'm so sorry." Pansy said finally, frowning.

"Lupin's a werewolf?" Theo asked. Rory nodded and bit her nails.

"Seriously, Theo, that's your first thought?" Draco spat.

"Rory, we've got your back, okay? Don't worry. I promise we'll help in any way we can." Mattheo comforted. Rory smiled.

"Is there anything we can do? Any research?" Blaise offered.

"I'm not sure." she replied.

"It's all going to be okay, rors," Enzo gave her a sympthatic smile, his eyes twinkling with warmth. The twinkle in his eye made Rory feel so much safer.

"Thank you guys, promise this won't change anything between us?"

"Of course not," Pansy half- smiled. Rory sighed with relief and relaxed her shoulders.

"Does Cedric know?" Draco asked.

"No, not yet. I'm too scared to tell him."

"You're going to have to tell him at some point, Rory." Theo added.

"I know, I just don't know how to tell him."

"Ask to talk to him on the astronomy tower since it's like your place and just tell him," Pansy suggested.

Rory nodded slowly, "Okay,"

She tapped her bracelet and typed 'meet at astro twr' in morse code. The only time she took her bracelet off was to shower— otherwise she always had it on her wrist.

She waited a minute before getting a response. 'Ok.' "I'll be back soon, okay? Wish me luck." Rory sighed, standing up.

"Good luck!" Everyone shouted at the same time. She fiddled with her bracelet as she walked along the cold corridors. It was past curfew so she needed to be careful.

The astronomy had always been the place Rory went when she needed to be by herself or if she couldn't sleep— which happened more than you would think.
