BACK TO THE OLD HOUSE- THE SMITHS
'i would love to go back to the old house, but i never will.'

When Rory woke up the following morning, the birds were singing a sweet melody that made her want to fall back to sleep. She laid under her forest green duvet, her head soft against the pillow as she stared at the ceiling. Pansy was fast asleep and so when Rory got up, she made sure not to make too much noise.

She slipped on her familiar uniform, leaving her robes on her chair as it was still quite warm— it only being the second of September.

When Rory went down for breakfast, only Blaise and Mattheo were sat at the Slytherin table. She sighed deeply and took a seat opposite the pair. They went completely silent as soon as Rory sat down, resulting in her raising her eyebrows. "Morning," she smiled, trying to act normal.

"Morning." they grumbled in response and silently ate their meal. What on earth was up with them? They were acting fine yesterday.

Around fifteen minutes later, Enzo and Theo also came down to the great hall for breakfast. Enzo sat next to his girlfriend with a smile— however, she didn't return it. She was still speculating about Blaise and Mattheo. Not only they were acting odd, but now Theo joined them in whispering.

Enzo followed Rory's furrowed gaze and nodded. "They're acting really weird, aren't they?" he whispered in her ear.

She nodded, "You've noticed too, then?"

"It's impossible not to. Has Pansy been any different?"

"Dunno, I've barely spoken to her since we arrived."

"Something's different this year. I don't like it." Enzo admitted, sending a wave of relief over Rory. She wasn't the only one that felt that way.

"I've been thinking the exact same thing, Enz." she replied, a frown on her face as she watched some of her best friends check that nobody heard what they were saying.

First, Second and Third period dragged on for what felt like years. Rory and Enzo made their way to their Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom in a glum mood. Neither of them had enough energy to speak. They were both tired of their friends avoiding them all day.

They had never acted like this before. It really was horrible. Pansy had spoken a grand total of ten words to Rory today— opposed to her usual millions.

Rory kissed Enzo on the cheek when they walked through the classroom and went to their seats— which were opposite ends of the room. Thankfully, Rory sat next to Harry. "Hi Rory." he smiled as she took her seat.

"Hi, you okay?" Rory replied, grateful to be speaking to someone that wasn't miserable or whispering every other second.

He nodded, "Alright, you?"

She shrugged, "Been better. Draco and all that are being weird." she held a finger up when Harry went to speak. He was about to say 'Well, they are weird,' but Rory stopped him mid-sentance.

"Probably cause of their parents, right?" he said, instead of offending her.

Rory nodded and twisted her bracelet on her wrist, "Yeah, I reckon."

A piece of parchment in the shape of a bird had taken flight around the classroom, making everyone laugh. Rory chuckled as it flew over her and Harry's desk, onto Padma and Dean's.

However, the room fell completely silent once a "Hem hem!" was announced and the bird burnt to pieces. Everyone spun around to see Professor Umbridge standing in the doorway, dressed in pink from head to toe.
