MISERABLE MAN- DAVID KUSHNER
'all we wanted, was a place to feel like home.'

Everyone got home in the late evening of the funeral. Fortunately, Dumbledore gave Enzo permission to stay off for an extra few days. He came back with them to Remus'. Victoria and Cedric stayed over until late.

They were gathered in the living room with the newly installed fairy lights and fireplace. Rory was in her pyjamas underneath a blanket against Enzo's chest. Cedric was sat on the carpet, leaning against the pouffe. Sirius had his arm around Remus' shoulder and there was only about two inches between them. Victoria sat alone on the armchair.

"Today was beautiful." Victoria said out of nowhere.

"It really was." Remus responded.

"It feels horrible though. It all feels real now. My husband is gone." she said, quieter this time.

Enzo ran his fingers through the ends of Rory's hair. "I know." Rory said, frowning.

Victoria weakly smiled at her and turned back to the crackling fire. "I think we better get a move on." she added.

Cedric sighed, his eyes heavy. Rory couldn't stand seeing her big brother like this. He stood up and so did Victoria. They all begun standing up and saying their goodbyes.

Rory hugged Cedric tighter than ever. She needed him to know that she was there for him. "You know I'm always here for you, okay?" she pointed.

He nodded, "I know, rors."

Rory kissed his cheek, "Please take care of yourself, Ced."

Cedric smiled weakly, "I always do."

She frowned, "I love you so much." Rory pulled him in for another hug and he leant into her touch. Rory reckoned he needed this hug just as much as she did.

"I love you more, rors."

She smiled and squeezed his arm, "You know where I am if you need me."

He smiled and ruffled her hair, "Same goes for you," Before Rory knew it, him and Victoria disappeared into the green fireplace. She sighed as the crackling fire turned orange again. Rory waltzed out to the back garden, the sun almost out of sight. It wasn't quite gone but there was still a bit of light.

Her jaw loosened when she took in the beauty of the sunset. There were splashes of oranges and purples, the baby pink hiding behind them. Rory sat down on one of the garden chairs, not taking her eyes off the sky.

Today felt like one big nightmare. She had only cried once. She had put on a fake smile for people all day, masking the numbness. Rory really did feel bad for not crying. She felt as though she owed it to him after everything that happened. Rory did miss him, she really did, but she couldn't bring herself to cry.

Rory didn't deserve Amos. He did absolutely nothing to hurt her but she still took her anger out on him & Victoria because she couldn't figure out her feelings. Rory had found out that the two parental figures she had grown up with weren't even her parents- she shouldn't of blamed them for it. They deserved so much better. Rory needed to be better.

Amos' death had made her realise a lot. She needed to have more patience and understanding. She shouldn't be so hot-headed all of the time. Rory needed to appreciate the things she already had.

Rory didn't know what she would do without the people she currently had in her life at the moment. Rory was so lucky. Her dads for example; they took her in and took care of her after thirteen years of separation. That couldn't of been easy for them. Rory had warmed up to the both of them so quickly. It was probably because of the fact she could actually see herself in them. They shared the same facial features and personality traits. It just felt right.
