MIND OVER MATTER- YOUNG THE GIANT
'cause i'm a young man after all'

It was the night before the full moon and Rory had never felt so stressed in her life. She still hadn't had the chance to speak to Cedric. She assumed that he was avoiding her.

She was pacing in the common room in the dead of night. She couldn't bare to speak to anyone because every time she did, she could hear every tiny thing that they were doing. Whenever they spoke, it was like they were shouting through a megaphone.

The common room was completely empty as it was way past curfew. Rory couldn't sleep so she had no choice but to leave her dorm as she didn't want to disturb Pansy.

"Rory?" someone whispered from the boys dormitory's stairs. Rory span around to see her favourite person.

"Hi, love." she smiled.

"What are you doing still up?" he asked, making his way towards her.

"Can't sleep. Everything is annoying me and it's stressing me out."

"What can I do to help?"

He placed his warm hands on her waist and she sighed. "Can we just lay down? I always fall asleep when I'm in your arms."

"Of course, in here?"

"Why not?"

He smiled and got himself comfy on one of the sofas. Rory snuggled up to his chest and he kissed the top of her head. "I'm so nervous for tomorrow." she whispered.

"I know you are, love. I'm afraid there's not much I can do though. But I promise I'll take care of you after it."

She smiled against his neck. "Promise?"

"I promise." he whispered.

The morning of the full moon was even worse. She couldn't focus at all. Attending lessons the day of a full moon might just be one of the hardest things Rory has ever had to do. It was lunchtime now and she was in the courtyard with her friends.

She was being oddly quiet, her mind fixated on the full moon. Her friends seemed to of noticed immediately. "What's up, rors?" Theo asked.

She looked up, "Nothing."

"You can't lie to us, Rory." Blaise added.

Rory laughed weakly, "No really, I'm fine. Just worried about tonight."

"What's tonight?" Theo questioned.

"Are you that thick, Nott?" Pansy scoffed.

Rory laughed, "It's a full moon, Theo."

A wave of realisation came over him and he frowned, "What time?"

"Dunno, Madame Pomfrey told me to go to the infirmary after dinner."

"Want us to come with you?" Blaise asked.

"Nah, it's fine. I'm gonna go find Cedric, if I'm late to lesson tell Snape I was talking to Madame Pomfrey." she said, standing up. They nodded and she made her way across the courtyard and back into the school. Rory knew where Cedric usually went with his friends so that's the first place she went to.

However, he wasn't there. Rory furrowed her eyebrows in confusion and wondered where else he could be.

Then she remembered. The map.

She still had it in her cloak pocket. Pansy hadn't snuck off since Rory got it, perhaps she had found out about it and realised that it wasn't safe anymore.
