➵ THE NIGHT WE MET- LORD HURON
'i had all of you, most of you, some and now none of you.'It was a week before the Yule Ball and Rory was so nervous. She still hadn't told Enzo that the full moon fell on the same day. That meant that she had no choice but to suffer in silence. Only Cedric knew.
"Hold on, who did you ask?" Pansy asked Mattheo.
"It's a secret." Mattheo said defensively.
"Mattheo." Rory warned.
He sighed with defeat, "Fine. I asked Eleanor Bishop."
Rory and Pansy shared a look of confusion. "Eleanor? Who's Eleanor?" Pansy spat.
"She's a Gryffindor." Mattheo replied, his head bowed.
"I didn't even know you spoke to her." Rory added.
"She's well fit so I asked her in Herbology yesterday." Mattheo said proudly. Rory and Pansy chuckled at his words.
"Well fit!" Pansy mocked, swarming Rory with giggles.
"Parkinson, Riddle, Lupin-Diggory. Keep your mouths shut or it'll be a detention." Snape barked. They were in the great hall for their Potions lesson. It was a theory lesson, meaning that it was incredibly boring.
Enzo was sat opposite Rory, studying her features. She looked him in the eye and he gave her a small, simple smile. Rory was in between Pansy and Mattheo, Draco was the other side of Pansy. Theo, Enzo and Blaise were opposite them. "Who have you asked, Blaise?" Rory asked out of curiosity.
"Take a guess." he replied.
"Luna?" the group chorused.
"Correct." Blaise grinned.
"And you?" Rory directed at Draco.
"I haven't asked anyone yet." he answered flatly.
"Why not?" Enzo asked.
Draco shrugged, "Nobody's good enough."
"By that, he means that he's too scared to ask anyone." Theo clarified, making everyone laugh.
Draco rolled his eyes, "I'm not too scared. Look, I'll ask that girl there. What's her name?" Rory and Pansy followed Draco's gaze to a brunette girl down the slytherin table.
"Oh, that's Anne Sallow— Sebastian's twin sister." Pansy replied.
"Sebastian? That weirdo?" Mattheo added.
Rory laughed, "I've never really spoken to him."
"Good." Rory heard Enzo mutter under his breath- really quietly. But luckily for her, her senses were beginning to heighten as she wasn't long from the full moon. Draco grabbed a piece of parchment and scribbled something down.
"Oi, Anne!" Draco whisper-shouted. Anne's head spun around as Draco threw the piece of paper at her. She unfolded the parchment with her eyebrows furrowed. She analysed the writing and her friends giggled.
Anne smiled and wrote down her answer. She carefully threw the note back to Draco, wary of Snape lingering. The group watched in suspense as Draco opened the parchment. His lips curled into a proud smirk. It was a proper Draco Malfoy smirk. "Told you." he boasted. Pansy nudged him in annoyance and he laughed.
"Something funny, Mr Malfoy?" Snape spat.
"No, sir." Draco replied.
"Then I trust that you will remain silent for the rest of the lesson, yes?"
Draco nodded and Snape walked off. "Not scared of asking out a bird but you sure are scared of Snape." Theo whispered, making all of them laugh apart from Draco; who simply scowled at his friends.
