Chapter Ten

I was standing in front of the electric fence inside the farm. Trying to keep my anxiety in check and not have a panic attack and go after them. I hate the feeling of not being able to do anything. I crossed my arms as I put my Glock on the belt holster and sighed. "It's been only 15 minutes, they planned to meet in an hour. You need to relax" Matthew joined me and stood in front of the fence. "I know I know. I just can't help it but think they'll need back up" I admitted, "well stop worrying. I've never seen someone sneakier than James and more persuading than Alexander. They'll be alright, I'm sure of it" he reassured me.

I looked around and saw all our gunners were stationed in their places and keeping an eye out. "You were not serious about leaving here when they are ready right?" he asked as he saw me looking at them. "Sure I was. I can't stay here any longer Matt" I replied, "why not? Screw what they want or whatever... you got them here, you made sure nothing even disturb them. You built this" he said pointing at the fortified walls. "You cannot heal in the environment that hurts you" I quoted, "but not everyone here wants you to leave Kami! I've talked to your sister. And do you what she told me? She said that you are the bond that supports her. The shoulder that does not let you down. And the mountain on which she supports herself in adversity. And do you know what your best friend said? She said she is grateful for life and the days that made you her friend and the companion for her sweet and bitter moments, for a thousand meanings, for a thousand love you are" he narrated. "Matty" I sighed, "no Kami... there are plenty of people who love you here. Yes, they aren't your family anymore I get it. But they love you and you love them, I know you do... just ignore Dana and Fahad and whenever they pick on you just let us handle it okay? I won't let you leave them and be on that cycle forever." he argued and before I say anything Haya came with water bottles.

"So was I not seeing right or was Alexander pulling you all around the farm?" Haya asked looking at me, "he was. We were arguing" I stated. "Want me to kick that Sargent ass? I will if you say so" Haya assured. I wrapped my arms around her shoulder chuckling with Matthew and she tried to put her arms around mine, but I'm taller than her so she wrapped her arms around my waist, "tall tree" she cursed under her breath which made me laugh. "What do you say should she kick that Sargent ass?" Matthew chuckled, "no it's fine... it would be awkward since he confessed that he liked me" I whispered the last part to Haya's ear smirking. But both Matthew and Haya gasped. I turned to Matt wide-eyed, "you heard?" I exclaimed, "of course I did! He finally admitted!" he was excited. "I thought you don't hear well in your ears!" I was stressed out. "I'm not deaf... well in my left ear slightly because of the military but my right ear is completely fine" he stated. "Shit... he told you? Did you tell him about how you liked him for a while now?" Haya thrilled. "You shhh.. His buddy is here" I hissed at her. "I can still hear perfectly fine by the way... and did you? You know... tell him?" he asked, "no I did not. I was interrupted by this messenger guy. We'll talk tonight I think" I sighed. "MY GOD FINALLY... he was talking about her all day and night. He keeps glancing at her all the time, and asking her question to get to know her more, trying to find a subtle way for a touch or hold her. He's not the movie type guy and yet he sat with her and watched three whole movies just to be around her and be a part of doing what she likes. And the list goes on and on" Matthew told Haya and I looked at him with soft eyes. "Really? So it's not a small crush as he said?" I asked since Alex told me it's a small thing and it will go away with time. "Who is he kidding? What did you say after he told you?" Matt asked, "nothing I just froze" I admitted. "There you go...He probably said that to not hurt his pride in front of you since he confessed first and got no reaction back. But no it is not a crush. He likes you dude" Matt added. And that brought me joy and I inhaled a deep breath of cold air and decided to stay and keep an eye out in the main watchtower. "Never speak of any of this to him understood?" I warned Matthew as I was climbing up. "Aye aye captain" he replied and I chuckled.
