We've been on the road for what it felt like an entire year.
Arriving at Storm's End and dealing with the proud Baratheons... if only they'd remember that they are merely Targaryen bastards. Having to spend time with the Tyrells and their highly optimistic, almost annoying, nature in Highgarden. We've cut our stay short in the Westerlands, at Casterly Rock, cause no one wanted to stay with the Lannisters anymore...even the guards and I do not blame them, I clutched onto the boys so they don't leave me alone with Jason Lannister.
We enjoyed our time in the Riverrun with House Tully and we extended our stay to go hunting, which we enjoyed. The Riverlands were a beautiful country, with rolling meadows flanked by large swaths of old-growth forests, and magical rivers and lakes. If I were to grow old in a place like this, I would the happiest person ever. Our way to the Vale, whilst taking the High Road to house Arryn, was a bit challenging. Facing thieves and the high cliffs and dangerous road... no one could rest. The Eyrie was a magnificent castle and I finally saw the Moon Door and it was scary... But the Arryn's were so hospitable and lovely that they send with us, on our way to return to the King's road and headed to the North, some of the Knights of the Vale. And after they'd made sure that we crossed the Vale safely, they returned to their castle.
Winterfell, our last stop, the ancestral home of House Stark, is at the heart of Westeros' largest territory—known simply as 'The North'. It is referred to by the spoiled Lannisters as "too big, too wild", and I mentioned to the boys that it is "bigger than the other six kingdoms combined.". The road leading up to it was easy, and smooth, and did not face any troubles like we did in High Road or going from Storm's End to Highgarden. But the weather surprised me, it was still summer but it rained, snowed, and it was cold.
When we could see Winterfell on the horizon, we decided to rest for the day and arrive there first thing in the morning. That was my plan on each visit to every seated castle. I did not want to arrive at the doorsteps of the Great Houses tired and weary, no, I wanted to freshen up, have energy for what they have planned for us, and to look good in my dresses that I carefully picked out.
"Five months... five months! Could you believe that? You should show them the invention of a plane..." James complained and whispered the last part as we went to join everyone for dinner around the campfire. At the end of this tour, everyone started to gather around one big fire and enjoy each other's company, which made me glad.
"I do not care if I'm sleeping with the sheep I just need rest for those three days" Arvin spoke, a knight in the Goldcloaks, "I would ask Lord Stark if he's able to let us stay some more days, it's been long five months and we still have to return to Kings Landing" I stated. "But to speak the honest truth, your Highness? It was one of the best tours I've joined... you have made it fun, easy, and... just an amazing experience. Thank you princess" Tomas spoke, and then all the men and women joined him nodding and thanking me. "It is my pleasure, Ser Tomas. I wanted it to be more than a duty to me and it is not fair to make one for you. And with you lot... I've enjoyed your company" I smiled and turned to every single one of them. "To the PRINCESS" James raised his flagon of Ale in celebration and everyone in camp joined, even the butchers behind as they were working.
We slept right away after supper, in preparation for the next day. The maid hung my dress for tomorrow and I took out the accessories that would go with it.
I will wear black velvet trousers, and a red crepe corset top and gold buttons, a long, also red, tailcoat with black embroidered cuffs and some embroidered details at the chest area where it meets the corset top. To hold the tailcoat together with the corset top, I added a black lace belt. I only added a red ruby necklace with a gold frame to match the gold buttons on the corset.
