Samantha was at their parents house and just as nervous as the first time there. Everyone was sitting staring at the envelop on the table.
"Is anyone going to open it?" Their dad finally asked when it seemed nobody was going to.
Noah took it and started opening it while everyone looked on anxiously. They watched him open the paper and read. Then a smile broke out on his face, then he frowned.
"What is it. What's wrong?" Samantha asked.
"We're both the father." He looked up confused.
"Is that even possible?" Samantha looked confused too.
Liam sat forward. "I don't understand. How can we both be the father?"
"I don't know." Samantha responded.
They all turned their eyes to the twin's mom. She retired from being a nurse and the twins always relied on her for medical advice they didn't understand.
"That sounds strange," she said. "A baby cannot have two biological fathers. Something's wrong. Noah you need to call them and query the results."
"We'll have to do that tomorrow, it's too late." Samantha couldn't help but feel disappointed that the situation wasn't resolved.
Their mom nodded. "I know how you guys feel, but I'm sure there is a good explanation for it. There must be."
The twins both looked lost in their thoughts.
"It would be solved tomorrow boys, don't stress about it." Their dad added.
Their parent bade them goodnight and left.
"Your parents are right, there's an explanation for it."
The next day they were together again and they had decided to actually go into the place to find out how the results came to be like that. They hadn't bothered to attend classes but Samantha had work later that evening. They were brought into a room where the doctor was. They told him about the results.
"Doc we don't understand." Noah handed the results to him.
"It's saying we're both the father." Liam said as well.
"Is that possible?" Noah said again right after.
The doctor took the results and then looked it up on the computer. He turned back to them. "Yes the results are right. You both are the father." He looked between them.
"We're both the father of the baby?" Liam asked incredulously.
"The baby?" The doctor frowned. "You mean the babies?"
Samantha went pale. Noah's eyes widened. Liam slumped back on the chair looking like all the blood had drained out his body. "Babies?" She squeaked.
"Didn't you have an ultrasound?" The doctor asked.
Samantha shook her head. "No not yet."
"Oh so you didn't know that you were having twins?" The doctor's brows were raised as he continued to look between them.
The twins now shook their heads in a no.
"So you're saying each one of them is the father of one of the babies?" Samantha asked the doctor feeling like God was really playing games with her now. As if she wasn't dealing with enough, she had to deal not one but two babies and two father.
