Ok. The rest of the week had passed and nothing from Noah. Just the way she liked it. Samantha hadn't gotten around to applying for the restraining order but she would. In the mean time she was feeling a little bit anxious, thinking she should be preparing for what Noah was going to come with next. He was not going to leave this alone.
A very official letter was delivered to her workplace. Samantha looked at it and saw that it was from a lawyer. Her heart started pounding in her chest, and she felt like she was about to throw up. Samantha's hands trembled as she read the letter carefully.
"I am writing on behalf of my client, Mr Hardin, who claims to be the father of one of your children. Based on the evidence submitted, the Court has granted him the right to have a paternity test done so that Mr Hardin could establish rights to the child. We kindly request your cooperation in having this procedure done, which would be in the best interest of the child."
He was granted the right to have a paternity test? She gaped at the letter, feeling shocked, overwhelmed, confused and angry. How could they? What proof did he give that would make them allow this. It wasn't right, how he could just badge into their lives and take control. Her mind then went to Shaun and what he would say if he found out. He'd be confused and devastated, and maybe he'd think that she was unfaithful or something. She couldn't tell him. Maybe she'd call Noah back and try to talk to him again, hear what he was trying to tell her three days ago. Samantha couldn't let this paternity test happen. Not that she was fearful of revealing anything, she just didn't want Shaun having doubts of their relationship or anything.
Noah had given her his number. Samantha searched through her phone for it and then called him. When he answered she launched into what she had to say without taking a breath. "How could you! How could you do this? You're just selfish and heartless. You know that?!" She was so upset she couldn't keep her voice steady.
"Samantha."
"You're going to force us to go through with this partenity test?!"
"But I warned you I would Samantha. I gave you an opportuinty....."
"What is it? What is the evidence you have?"
"I can't tell you over the phone. We'll have to meet."
"Why, just tell me Noah!"
"I said we'd have to meet. Listen, Samatha. I know it looks like I'm forcing you to have this done..... your own words, but I'm not. I'm doing what needs to be done for my son, our son and so you'd know the truth. Let's meet, same place. I'll explain what I found out."
"He's not your son Noah."
"Meet me at 5pm, same place this evening." He hung up.
She stared at the phone then burst out crying.
