Samantha decided not to go to work that day. She did send the kids off to the daycare. She walked around her and Shaun's bedroom digging through draws and boxes looking for any memories it had of them.
She had been going through the boxes for a while now, trying to find anything that might remind her of their time together before they got married. Samantha didn't find one thing. Strange. It was as if they had never shared anything meaningful together.
There were no pictures, letters, or even jewelry that he would have given her. Samantha sat down on the bed staring at the boxes, confused. She tried to force the memories, trying hard until she got a headache trying to remember specific memories of them that should have stood out before having the twins. Nothing. Can a coma really take all, every single memory before a certain time away?
After twirling her wedding ring, with her thoughts going places it shouldn't, she looked down at it. It represented the love that they shared, and it suddenly hit her that the memories she couldn't remember was right there on her hand. Samantha felt silly for not realizing that before. She smiled thinking about the night before. A wave of warmth flowing over her, remembering the way Shaun had touched her. When he told her he loved her before sending her careening into ecstasy.
Even though she didn't have the memories. The ring was a tangible representation of everything they shared, their experiences, vows, commitment and it symbolized their love and promises.
Samantha packed back everything, feeling better, seeing no need again to look for proof. The ring had provided her with all the emotional security she needed.
She called Shawn just to hear his voice and he talked her ear off. He asked about the twins, if she was okay, what she was doing. He told her about some of the patients he had seen, where he was presently, and what time he was going for lunch. He sweet talked her about the night before making her blush and after the call leaving her with a europhic feeling.
Samathna decided that she'd ignore everything that Noah had told her. She was not and could not be the woman he wanted her to be. He was not going to be allowed to have any control and say in her life. Her son wasn't his and she was not going to prove anything to him. She didn't have to. Let Noah take whatever measures he wanted to continue his delusion.
Samantha went out and bought some gorceries deciding to prepare Shaun a really special meal. Maybe she'd carry lunch to him. She gave into the thought and had lunch at work with him. He was surprised but happy to see her.
She didn't bring up anything about her parents or their wedding. They just talked about things in general while they ate. It was the best lunch date ever.
