"Samantha please come out." Shaun's voice came again, after twenty minutes and she hadn't come out.
She took a deep breath and walked out, closed the door and leaned on it."Can we talk later, I have a headache?" The excuse was sounding hollow even to her own ears.
"Samantha, don't try that. I want you to tell me what's going on." He said seeing through her facade, coming to stand directly in front of her.
She pushed off the door and made to pass him but he grabbed her arm. "I'd never keep anything from you, don't keep this from me."
"Oh really!" She yanked her arm away feeling a surge of anger. "You have no conscience!" Her eyes flashed with a mixture of anger and hurt. "You have us living a lie, created by you."
He rocked back from the sharpness of her words. "Samantha, I don't know what....."
She laughed in exasperation. " He doesn't know!" She said hysterically and burst out laughing again, and then her laughter morphed into tears of anguish. "Where was the honesty when you were keeping secrets!" She cried out between sobs, the raw pain of her emotions pouring out.
The accusation hung in the air, a harsh contrast to the loving tones of their past interations. "I don't know what you're talking about but someone seems to be feeding you lies." He reached out to her again and she knocked his hands away, her sobs echoing in the room as she tried to quell the flood of emotions overwhelming her.
She wiped her tear streaked cheeks with the back of her hand and wrapped her arms around herself, struggling to catch her breath. "It's a good thing they did." Her voice cracked, "because, I would have never known."
"So who is this informat, trying to destroy our marriage?" He demanded in a fierce voice.
The air grew heavy as she responded with a chilling vagueness. "You'll find out in time. When it all comes out."
He grabbed her arm when she turned away and she struggled with him, but he wasn't releasing her. "No you don't, I can't stand by and let some unknown threat destroy what we have. I have a right to know who's telling you these things." His words were filled with desperation as he held onto her.
"Let go of me Shaun!" Her heart raced as she tried to pull away her breaths ragged.
He had her pinned to his body. "Tell me who it is Samantha."
"It's not about who Shaun, it's about the truth. Tell me if our marriage is real." Her voice broke as she stopped struggling.
"What are you asking? Of course it is. Is this connected to when you were looking for the picture and the certificate?"
"Did we get married in a church with witnesses?" She saw something flash across his eyes but it was gone before she could read it.
"Samantha we are legally married." If that's what you are asking.
"You didn't answer me. Did we get married in a church?"
He didn't answer.
"Where are the wedding pictures? Show me."Why don't I have friends?"
