Noah walked in. His mom and Samantha were sitting by the table.

"Hey, somebody parked a rusted up pile of trash, in our driveway." He kissed Samantha and then his mom.

"Noah that's my car."

"That trash in the drive way is your car?!"

"Hey what's going on?" Liam walked in. "Someone parked in our driveway. The thing is hideous!"

"Noah and Liam, that is Samantha's car. Please be nice." Their mom's eyes pleaded with them.

"It's my car and in spite of what you guys think, I like it."

"That looks like a death trap, why would you buy something like that." Noah pointed out.

"You refused a new car for that thing." Lian watched her incredulously.

Samantha got up and walked out.

"Boys." Their mom shook her head. "You made Samantha feel bad. She wants to be independant. Even though it looks how it does, you didn't have to say it."

"But mom it looks terrible!" Liam went on.

"Yeah, like if it would just fall apart like legos on the road." Noah said agreeing with his brother.

"That's okay, just be understanding and nice. I think she needs an apology."

They both went sheepishly and apologised to Samantha.

Samantha refused a drop from the twins and drove to class with her car, the next day.

The boys were right. It was a mess, but it was what she could afford. After class, again she drove. Samantha had two more blocks before she arrived home when the car started to smoke and broke down in the middle of the road. All how she tried she couldn't get it to start. Cars were honking behind her. Cars overtook hers with the drivers yelling profanity and curse words at her.

With shaking hands she tried to start the car many times. What made it worse was that it was a sweltering day.

She got out the car and was almost run over by another. She screamed and jumped back in. The car was still smoking and she really didn't want to stay in it. She collected her personal items, waited until the road was clear and ran to the other side.

She called road side assistance to get a tow truck, and then she called the twins to let them know what happened.

A police vehicle pulled up. "Mam, that your car?" His mouth was going like a goat, chewing the gum.

"Yes it is." She flushed at the way he eyed the car like it was something he had never seen in his lifetime.

"Mam that car looks no good for a pretty lady like you to be driving in your condition." His eyes dropped to her baby bump.

She flushed in embarrassment again and ignored his comment. "I called road side assistance."

"That's good because it is obstructing traffic. Let me just run your plate. License and insurance please." He took the documents she handed him and went off to the side to call it in, while she watched the car helplessly.
