She was there with Noah again, sitting across from him staring. Her eyes were red rimmed from all the crying.

"Samantha. A piece of your life is missing that you're not aware of."

"I'm tired of this, Noah. How could a piece of my life be missing and I don't know? How could I be happy now if that were so?" Her eyes met his, searching for understanding, her heart filled with trepidation.

"Because someone did something to you, they stole a piece of your past and created what you live now based on lies."

Samantha's eyes widened with the sudden weight of his words. She clasped her arms as if seeking comfort from an inner chill. "I know you're inferring it was Shaun, and I don't understand why. How can that even be possible? Why would he do something like that. Not that I believe, but show me what evidence you have." She said, trying to maintain her composure, her eyes steady despite the swirling confusion within her.

"You were in an accident, and you couldn't remember anything. Don't you think it was too coincidental that Shawn worked as a doctor in the same hospital you were brought to? That you couldn't remember anything before that?"

" The accident......." Her voice trailed off, her mind working to recall what happened and after, but it was all a blank slate. " I-I know I was in an accident. I couldn't remember anything before or right after. Shaun told me everything that happened. Are you saying that he had something to do with the accident?" Her confused gaze searched his.

"No, I'm not saying that. I'm saying he used your memory loss to orchestrate a different life for you.

Her voice catched at his revelation. "But Shaun is my husband....he loves me....why would he.....?"

"He wasn't your husband then Samantha, and I'm not sure he is now."

She gasped out loud, and her eyes started tearing up again as she tried to reconcile the comforting picture of her life and the shadows of doubt, Noah was casting.

"I know it is a lot to take in, and I can't pretend to know why Shawn did what he did. Maybe he saw an opportunity to have something he longed for, or maybe he started out trying to help, and things just happened.

"I can't believe what you're implying about my husband. He's the father of my children, he wouldn't......"

"He's not their father!" He said between clenched teeth, but his expression softened, seeing the confusion and pain in Samantha's eyes. "I'm not trying to hurt you, Samantha, but the truth needs to be revealed."

"Where did you get all this information?"

The room grew still, and the air thick with what he was going to say. " The medical records that I have access to, and the doctor I'm working with, shows that your memory loss is not as straightforward as you were made to believe."

"Noah, what are you saying?"

"Shaun took advantage of your memory loss, to shape your life to fit a narrative that benefits him."
