Samantha listened to Noah recount the past. The way he spoke, told her he had had a deep connection with who he thought she was. His tone was really sincere, and the emotions in his voice sturred something within her. Something about him preoccupied her attention and she had to get her focus back on what he was saying, which had her confused. She knew he had claimed before that one twin was his and the other his brother, but it hadn't really sunk in that he was saying she was with two of them. Two of them, at the same time? That didn't sound like her.
Her confusion intensified as he went on. Samantha just couldn't reconcile herself with her self perception and how he said she was. Her internal dialogue was going crazy.
"So wait. I was engaged to Liam first and then to you? "
He nodded and spoke on.
"Wait my parents threw me out? My parents are dead, five years now." She said with confusion and disbelief.
"Samantha they're not."
She flinched at his response. "This is just some kind of cruel joke, isn't it." Her eyes started to fill with tears. The pain of her deceased parents being pulled into this, was too much.
His eyes softened and he reached for her hand but she pulled away from him. "Dimp-Samantha, I swear to you, I'm not playing a joke." His eyes pleaded. I don't mean to upset you, but you need to know the truth. Your parents are alive and well. I'm not sure how you came to forget all these things but it's the truth."
"This is really alot." Samantha dashed at her tears. "I can't even process all that you're saying."
"Who told you your parents are dead?"
Noah's question made her pause, then she said. "My husband."
Noah was taken aback by her response. "Your husband? Did he explain how he learned about it or did someone tell him?"
"Oh it's a long story that leads up to that, but I know he told me they died, in uhm an accident. I'm not sure how he found out. Why?" She sniffled delicately.
Noah was a bit confused when Samantha said her husband told her. It came across as if she was absent in that period and never attended the funeral. "Just curious, because it's not true. Maybe you should ask him how he found out."
"I had some complications when having the twins and my husband filled me in on what I missed."
"Do you think you heard him wrong?"
"No of course not. Why are you stressing on this! My parents are dead. Shaun would never mislead me or lie to me."
"It's just hard for me to understand, uhm, that he didn't show you proof or tell you how he found out."
"Why should he? His words were enough." Samantha said feeling defensive of her husband. "I had come out of a coma while having the kids and I didn't remember some things. I didn't remember that my parents died. He just filled me in on the things I couldn't remember and the things I missed."
