"I was looking for you," Liuer whispered into Wukong's ear. Wukong felt a shiver. He was unable to move. His eyes were wide. He was, one might say, scared, very scared. His heart was beating like crazy. His breathing was uneven. The brothers looked on. with curiosity.
"Liuer, what did you do to her?" Lai asked. Liuer looked at him with disgust.
"I took her to the doctor to check her condition, she had a fever and she shouldn't strain herself now."
"Oh? Really? I wonder. So what was she looking for here?" Ling said.
"She doesn't look too good," Yu said.
"I know because she has a fever and hallucinations."
"I'm not surprised by her behavior at the party," said Lai. Ling and Yu nodded.
"She's just ill..." he took Wukong's hand. "What were you doing here?" Liuer said. "I thought you went back to the room because I know you... don't like the doctor, but you weren't there."
Wukong was in complete shock. He looked ahead, saw the exit.
"Wukong?"
"Really, you didn't have someone..." Ling started, but was punched by Yu to shut up.
"Are you sure she's okay?" Lai asked.
"I should get her out of here," Liuer said. He turned Wukong to look at him. "Do you want me to use the portal?"
Wukong closed his eyes. This was too much. Too many. If he doesn't do something about it now, he will never be free.
"Wukong? Tell me what's wrong? Are you feeling bad? Is your head hurting again?"
Wukong didn't hear him. He focused on the beating of his heart. He had to make a choice. Stay here and be trapped or escape. Now nothing mattered more than freedom. His damn freedom was at stake. Freedom to make decisions. Inhale, exhale, inhale... end. This nightmare is over. He knows what he has to do. He opened his eyes. He looked at Liuer.
"I'm sorry..." Wukong said. Liuer's expression softened.
"Nothing happened, although we will go back to the room, you will rest," he said gently with a gentle smile. Liuer was ready to go, but Wukong pulled his hand out of his grasp. The prince looked at him, not understanding what was happening.
"But I've had enough of this nightmare," Wukong said firmly. The brothers looked at them with great curiosity. "There's nothing like family drama," Ling whispered. Lai and Yu nodded and continued watching. Liuer didn't know what was going on.
"Wukong, what are you talking about?" Liuer asked.
Wukong turned and started running towards the door. Liuer emerged from the shadows in front of him. Blocking his path. The prince grabbed him by the arms. Wukong struggled.
"Do not touch me!"
"Wukong? Tell me what is going on? I'm here. Please tell me... my love," Liuer said. Wukong stopped fidgeting. He looked straight into the prince's eyes. Tears welled up in Wukong's eyes. Liuer placed his hand on Wukong's forehead.
"You have a fever, you need to rest," Liuer said. The longer Wukong looked at the prince, the more his heart melted... Wukong nodded. Liuer smiled. He took Wukong's hands. Wukong looked at the hug. He slowly raised his head to look at the princes. But it couldn't be like this anymore. Liuer looked at Wukong with concern, but Wukong's expression turned serious. He gently grabbed Liuer's shirt. Then he tightened his grip and chewed Liuer as hard as he could. Liuer slammed his back against the wall. Cracks appeared in the wall. Liuer groaned, fell to his knees and glared at Wukong. Wukong wasted no time and quickly ran to the door. Liuer waved his hand. The door was closed by the shadows. Wukong pulled with all his might. The door didn't open.
The brothers did not expect such a turn of events. They were shocked. Besides, how on earth did their brother's partner have such strength?! They ran to Liuer. Liuer growled, not wanting help. Liuer stood up and brushed the dust from his clothes. He smiled, but it was more of a smirk with a hint of anger. The brothers knew that look. It won't be good.
Liuer walked up to Wukong.
"Stay away!" Wukong shouted.
"Liuer? What's wrong with your partner?" Yu said.
"She... is ill..." Liuer said.
"I'm not sick! Or crazy!" Wukong shouted.
"You can see," Ling muttered.
Wukong's eyes filled with tears.
"You have to let me go!"
"Wukong... please... you need to calm down," Liuer said calmly.
"Liuer, maybe since she doesn't want to be with you because it's obvious, would you let her go?" Lai said.
"What?!" Liuer growled. "She doesn't know what she's saying."
Wukong's blood boiled, his rage level reaching its limit. And with the anger came a sudden rush of memories, random memories, with no context, but it was comforting and painful at the same time. Wukong screamed in pain. He doubled over and fell to the floor. Liuer quickly ran to him. "Wukong? What's going on?!"
"Leave me! Don't even.. touch me" Wukong said. The brothers just stared at this strange scene. Liuer turned to them and said, "Instead of standing there, bring in the doctor!"
They pulled themselves together. "I'll go," Yu said. And he ran. Wukong grabbed his head. Lieur took his hand. "Wukong, look at me... Wukong!"
The king emerged from the shadows. "What is going on here?"
"Clearly, there's something wrong with Liuer's partner," Ling said.
"Did you know that?" Lai asked.
"Yes," replied the king. He looked at the whole incident seriously.
"And you let him get involved with her?!" Lai and Ling said. The king glared at them.
“You have no say in this.”
"Oh.. please look at her. Is this what a queen looks like? No. Even though I'm not much for Liuer, I don't think he should get involved in such trouble, for his own good," Lai said.
"I am the king. And I choose."
"And what use can such a monkey be to you? Father, look at her. Shee will only be a burden to Liuer," Lai said.
"It's thanks to me that she's still here and I'm not going to waste this chance."
"What? What are you talking about?"
At the time. Wukong tried to calm down. Liuer's words didn't reach him, but he heard the king's conversation. He inhaled and exhaled. In his head there was a hurricane of everything. Emotions, memories, pain... At the moment he was sure of only one thing: it was all the king's fault. And he is responsible for all this... for what Wukong has become. Not an exact copy of himself, lost in the laboratory of his own lost memories. Escape was no longer important. Anger reigned in his heart and mind. The desire to vent his rage. He lifted his head up. Liuer thought everything was fine now. He wiped away Wukong's tears. Wukong focused all his attention on the king. With Liuer's help, he rose to his feet. He stood on shaky legs, ready to fall again, but now he had to hold on. He made eye contact with the king. The king smiled. He thought it was over and he won, once again. Wukong had a serious face. It's time to end this. In the blink of an eye, Wukong suddenly grabbed the king by the throat and pinned it to the wall. The whole palace shook. The brothers and Liuer saw lightning flashing in one moment and Wukong strangling the king in the next. They were shocked.
"Yes, that's right, you're the reason I'm locked in here," Wukong deadpanned. The brothers wasted no time. Liuer on the other hand felt that the king deserved it after what he did to his partner. Liuer took no action in this. He was only concerned about his beloved's health and that was all that mattered. The brothers came to them and tried to lure Wukong away from the king. They pulled it off. Wukong landed on the floor with a groan. Liuer ran to him. Checking to see if anything happened to him. The king grabbed his neck. He glared at Wukong. The brothers stood in a defensive formation, protecting the king.
"Don't let that freak of yours come near our father," Ling said. Liuer growls at them.
"Wukong? That's enough, okay?" Liuer said calmly.
"No! It's all his fault!" Wukong exclaimed.
"I know, Sunshine, I know..." Liuer hugged him.
"How do you know?"
"I know what he did, or at least I know what he wanted to do, and I don't approve of it," he whispered in his ear. Wukong felt that this was not what he meant. What else did the king want to do with him?! Liuer placed Wukong's head on his shoulder.
"Liuer... I'm done..." Wukong muttered. Liuer started stroking his back.
"Don't you think that's enough for today?"
"What?"
"Time to rest, okay?"
"But he, all this and... and I remembered..."
"Wukong, please..."
"Liuer, I remember... I remember..."
Liuer saw that Yu and the Doctor had finally reached the hall. Liuer nodded to the doctor. The doctor slowly approached them. He sat down on the floor. (Of course Wukong doesn't see this) From his black bag he took out a small syringe and some small glass bottle. He drew fluid into the syringe. He checked whether there was the right amount.
"So do you remember what I told you earlier?"
"huh?" Wukong muttered. Liuer placed one hand on Wukong's back, holding him still so he wouldn't move. And with his other hand, he brushed Wukong's hair back so that his neck was visible. He held his hair and head on his shoulder. Now Wukong couldn't move.
"It's just your imagination," Liuer whispered. The doctor brought the syringe to Wukong's neck. He slowly inserted the syringe.
"But... OW!" Wukong felt a strong twinge in his neck, he wanted to move, to free himself from the prince's grip, but Liuer held him tightly.
"Hey, it's ok..sh..sh" Liuer tried to calm him down. "It'll all be over soon..."
The doctor slowly injected the substance and pulled out the syringe. Blood appeared at the site of the puncture. Wukong's senses were dulled. His mind was like muddy water now. He couldn't gather his thoughts and memories. The doctor applied cotton wool soaked in disinfectant. Wukong groaned. Liuer was saying something to him, but Wukong didn't understand. His eyelids were getting heavier and heavier and he felt extremely tired. His muscles relaxed. Wukong tried to fight it some more, but gave up. He closed his eyes. His breathing became even. The heart was beating at a normal rhythm.
The brothers looked on in horror. The king could now breathe. Liuer picked up Wukong bridal style.
"We hope you can explain it to us," Ling said. Liuer didn't say anything. He disappeared into the shadow portal. He emerged in the room. He placed Wukong on the bed. He covered him with a blanket. He placed his hand on his forehead, checking his temperature. Yes, Wukong had a fever. The prince went to the bathroom and took a tiny towel and soaked it in water. He returned to the room and placed a towel on Wukong's forehead. Wukong muttered. Liuer smiled faintly.
This day was supposed to be more happily, or at least that's what Liuer planned, but unfortunately it didn't work out. He sighed. Now he will have to take care of Wukong more to improve his health. Deep in his heart, Liuer knew what Wukong was talking about, a nightmare. The prince didn't want to think about it. Because it was depressing. His sun... his beloved, he was afraid, he was afraid of this kingdom... he was afraid of him. It was the worst. Why? He would do anything for him. He was there for him, he took good care of him. Why was his sun afraid? He will have to do something... but the question is what? But to keep the sun with you. The deepest fear. His beloved will leave him. He wouldn't survive without him. The truth is that everyone needs sunlight. Especially in the dark. But how long can the sun survive in the dark? His beloved is the only light, so what can he do? He'll figure something out, but now he has to deal with his damn siblings who saw the whole scene. He doesn't care about their opinion or his father's. In fact, the King deserved it. Actually, that's right, it's all because of him. That's why his beloved is feeling bad. Liuer will fix it. But not now.
Liuer smiled. He stroked Wukong's head. Wukong mumbled something. He looked very calm. As if nothing had happened. In dreams, everyone has their own reality, their own world, but if the barrier is breached, what then? That's exactly what happened. Thought the prince. He looked at Wukong one last time, making sure he was ok, that he was still sleeping. He left without a sound. He locked the door and went to the throne room,
where everyone was waiting for him, or rather, for an explanation. Also in the room were Lil, Ting and the Queen. The king and queen sat on thrones. The king had a mark on his neck from being pillowed. The brothers, especially Lai and Ling, argued that Wukong was the worst option for a partner. The king listened to this with irritation. He had a plan, a good plan. And Liuer is on his side, isn't he? His son doesn't want to lose his love. And the king does not want to lose control of the heavenly kingdom.
"Really, father? Why did you let him bond with this... outsider," Ling said.
"What is your goal? To make the kingdom fall?" Lai said. The king rolled his eyes.
"It's Liuer's choice, not yours," the queen stated.
"What's the point anyway?" Ting asked.
"About our brother getting involved with a freaky woman," Ling said.
"Stop, she doesn't look like it," Ting said.
"Really?! She tried to kill our father," Ling said.
"What?"
"You don't see the marks on his neck," Ling said. Ting and Lil's eyes widened in surprise. The queen took the king's hand as a sign of support.
"How did this happen?" Lil asked.
"We don't know exactly..." Yu said.
"Well, the girl had a breakdown, talked nonsense and then attacked our father," Ling said.
"But... how? What?"
"We don't know, we saw her even chew Liuer against the wall, look..." he pointed to the cracked wall.
"Doesn't this show enough that she cannot be Liuer's partner, and especially cannot become queen," Lai said.
"Yes, he has great strength, unrivaled by anyone," said the king.
"Doesn't that show her as dangerous?" Lil said.
"Yes," said the king.
"Exactly, that's why they shouldn't be together for the good of the kingdom," Ling said.
"For the good of the kingdom?"
"And how else? Father, are you blind, a stranger on the throne, and with the power you say is mighty, could destroy this entire kingdom."
"But she hasn't done it yet."
"Yet, that's a good word, still, and what if it happens?"
"My dear ones, your father has reasons why she must remain here," said the queen.
"Really? And what would those reasons be?" Lil said.
"Whether you like it or not, she will stay here and be the partner of Liuer," said the king.
"Why do you defend it so stubbornly?" Ling asked.
"Fine, but can't you see that she wouldn't be capable of ruling a kingdom?" Lai said.
"She, even if she was your father's advisor, would be able to handle it as long as... the disease didn't show any signs," said the queen.
"Father, please... if Liuer wasn't the successor yet, that's fine, but that's it," Ling began.
"It's going to be a scandal," Lil said. There was a moment of silence.
"If Liuer wants to be with her so badly, so be it, but father, please choose someone else to succeed you, someone from us," Ling spoke.
"Are you going to oppose my decision?" said the king.
"Father, everyone can see that Liuer is not suitable, and even she is not suitable. Each of us would be better. Not to mention the fact that he is not even your..." Ling said. Liuer appeared behind him and whispered in his ear. "Tell me, who am I not? Or rather, what am I?" he said in his maniacal voice. Ling moved away from him and fell silent.
"You must stop," said the queen.
"What? I just came," Liuer said. "And about the throne. If I could, I'm giving you my resignation right now, take the damn throne, but I'm taking Wukong with me right now," he said with contempt.
"Don't you dare!" said the king.
"Father... if he wants it so," Lai said.
"Shut up!"
Liuer rolled his eyes. There was silence.
"We don't argue, we are family," said the Queen. "What about her?"
"Okay, she's sleeping," Liuer said.
"Yeah, she's sleeping because you sedated her," Ling said. Liuer growled at him.
"Seriously?" Lil asked. Liuer rolled his eyes.
"Okay, that's enough, the most important thing is that the situation is under control." said the queen.
"I guess she's been taken over," Ling muttered. Liuer was ready to lash out at him, but was stopped by Lai and Yu.
"Enough!" shouted the king. They calmed down. The king sighed.
"Liuer, brother, didn't you see that your partner was choking your father," Lai said. "Are you blind with this love?"
Liuer didn't speak.
"But this is considered treason," said Lai.
"And what does that have to do with it? Does the honorable king report that it was treason?" Liuer said ironically.
"Father?"
"No. Due to the circumstances, no," said the king.
"What?!" they shouted.
"You're not serious, are you?!" Ling said.
"What are these circumstances?!" Lil said.
Liuer smiled triumphantly.
"She tried to kill you and you just let it go?" Lai said.
"Your father knows what he's doing..." said the queen.
"I guess not"
"I am the king! And I know what is good for the country! You have no right to tell me how to rule," said the angry king.
"Okay... okay... we understand, at least tell us why she's so important," Ling said. Liuer looked at the king angrily. The king sighed.
"She..."

Wukong woke up with a pain in his neck. What actually happened? He remembers that he was terrified, then he was furious, he attacked the king... then Liuer hugged him and... that's all. Wukong touched his neck. He groaned in pain. He looked around the room. His vision was blurry, but he realized that the prince wasn't there. He sat down. His whole body was numb and didn't want to cooperate with him. Inhale. Exhale. He has to get out of here. He got up, or rather fell to the ground. He groaned. It was the worst day of his life. Has he ever had a happy day? Or normal? Wukong chuckled at this. Normal. A good word, which is abnormal and does not fit the current situation in which he finds himself. He needs to pull himself together if he wants to get out of this nightmare. He stood up and staggered. His vision was still blurry, his eyelids heavy, but it wasn't time to sleep. It's time to act, there will be no second time. He took his stick out of his ear and, using it, walked unsteadily to the door. He grabbed the door handle and... it was locked. Wukong felt another wave of fear and anger again. He started tugging on the doorknob. The door didn't open. Inhale. Exhale. He aimed a stick at the door and hit it with all his might. The door was smashed. I hope no one hears this. Wukong was worried, but now was not the time. We have to get out of here. He didn't know where he was going, or rather he was limping. He knew he had to get to the throne room, go through the door, straight ahead and he would be outside. Easy, but he didn't succeed the first time. Slowly, his vision sharpens with each step. Wukong feels extremely tired. He feels like he needs sleep. His body needs to rest, but now he must reach his destination with all his strength. I wonder how Liuer got me into this state, Wukong thought. From the depths of the corridor he sees that he is reaching the throne room, he is already happy, but his happiness does not last long when he hears an argument. It stops quickly. It's getting a bit closer. And he sees from hiding that everyone is there. Liuer is restrained by his brothers from hitting Ling. Wukong flinches. And what should he do now? He has to come up with something. How is he supposed to get through the door? If they're arguing, there's a chance they won't notice me, Wukong thought. He didn't care what they were arguing about. His goal is to reach the door and slip out unnoticed. Now is the most important moment on which everything depends. Unfortunately, his body is not yet awake enough. He won't be able to defend himself. Good thing he has a stick to lean on. It has to be a quick action. Now. Wukong noticed how they crossed each other and no one looked at the door. Wukong smiled. He reached the door. He was about to open the door when the door creaked open as he opened it. He felt all the attention focused on him. Wasting no time, he quickly walked through the door. He put the cane to his ear. He was weak, but he had to run. Every second counted and could not be wasted. If he has to fight, he will fight, even though his body cannot fight. Now his life, his freedom, are on the line. Nothing can stop him. He keeps running. He feels like his legs don't want it. But despite the pain, they run. May his freedom be worth all this effort. He suddenly hears them calling his name. He doesn't stop. He knows that Liuer can use the shadow portal, so he can't stop. The further he runs, the darker it gets. Activates golden vision. It helps him realize how far he is from his goal. He feels Liuer and the others chasing him. His heart is beating like crazy. His head is throbbing with pain. He feels weak and overloaded, but he still runs. It reaches the main gate, which leads to the courtyard. Luckily it's open, but there are guards there. Someone shouts to close the gate. The guards start closing the doors. Wukong cannot allow this to happen. With the last of his energy, he ran like lightning, reaching the courtyard. It worked. Wukong smiled. For a moment he forgot that he was still being chased. For a moment he felt relieved. He smiled gently. He looked up. The moon was at its best. It looked like a normal night. Except it's always night there. It was chilly. Wukong was hot, so it was perfect for him to feel pleasantly cool. He closed his eyes. Time no longer mattered. He was free. Isn't it? His body relaxed. He breathed a sigh of relief. Freedom. A beautiful thing, except that he was still in this kingdom.
He felt someone standing behind him. Wukong felt a twinge of fear. He didn't know where this fear came from. He was free, wasn't he? No, he wasn't, not yet. Freedom doesn't come that easy. Freedom must be fought for. This game isn't over yet, but he will finish it. Wukong stated.
"Wukong?" said someone standing behind him.
"Sunshine, please tell me what's going on?"
Of course it was Liuer. Wukong didn't want to fight him. Inhale Exhale. Wukong didn't turn around. Liuer took his hand and turned him around to look at him. They looked into each other's eyes. Here and now was what mattered. Them. Just them, nothing else.
"If... I asked you to come with me, far away from here, would you do it?" Wukong said. And his voice broke under the influence of emotion.
"You know that I would do anything for you." Liuer said. They smiled gently.
“I would go with you to the end of the world,” Liuer added.
Wukong felt something like happiness? Which only lasted a moment.
The rest of the family gathered around them in the courtyard. Wukong felt afraid again. He pulled his hands away from Liuer. Liuer looked around, then looked at Wukong. He saw his beloved being afraid. He could hear his heart beating too fast. He had to make a decision.
Wukong felt that he was about to be attacked by one of Liuer siblings or even the king might attack him. Liuer noticed this. There was tension in the air.
"Wukong?" Liuer said. He cupped Wukong's face. He came closer. Their foreheads were touching.
"I'm taking you out of here," Liuer whispered. Wukong couldn't believe it. He nodded gently. Liuer hugged him. Wukong hugged back.
The shadow engulfed them.
