It took Cheska days and days to fight for and defend her relationship with Gabrielle to her grandmother because she loved Gabrielle way too much.
Cheska stands in the center of her living room, ready to assert herself and defend her relationship with Gabrielle.
Her grandmother, Gertrude, a traditional and conservative woman sits on the couch, her face filled with skepticism.
"Cheska, I've been giving this a lot of thought, and I can't help but worry. Your relationship with Gabrielle... I just don't understand it. You know how things were different in my generation."
"I know, Grandma, times have changed, and love doesn't always fit into traditional molds. Gabrielle and I have a deep connection that goes beyond gender. Love is about finding someone who understands, supports, and challenges you to be the best version of yourself."
"But Cheska, society can be cruel. You'll face judgment and discrimination. It won't be easy, what the two of you did are extremely disgraceful!"
"I'm aware of that, Grandma. But love is worth fighting for, no matter the obstacles. Gabrielle and I have the strength to face those challenges together. We refuse to let society's prejudices define our happiness."
Cherylene, Mia, Alfredo, Louis, Tonet, and Gertrude stand in a tense semi-circle, their faces contorted with anger and disgust. Cheska, though taken aback, stands her ground, her eyes filled with determination.
Cherylene laid a finger at her, "Cheska, what you're doing is disgraceful! How can you be in a relationship with another woman? It's against our values and everything we believe in!"
Mia spole, "This is unnatural! It's an abomination! You need to stop this madness and come to your senses!"
Alfredo spoke, "It's disgusting! You're bringing shame upon our family. Our reputation will be tarnished because of your selfishness!"
Louis crosses his arms, "This is not right, Cheska. It's not how things are supposed to be. You should be with a man, not with another woman."
Tonet shook her head, "Are you trying to rebel against everything we stand for? You need to put an end to this relationship immediately!"
Carlos sighs, "Cheska, I never thought I'd see the day when my own granddaughter would go against our traditions and embrace something so...unnatural."
Cheska had enough, that she sheds tears as she doesn't want to hurt Gabrielle, "I understand that this is difficult for all of you to accept. But love knows no boundaries, no gender. My relationship with Gabrielle is built on respect, trust, and an unwavering connection. It's not about conforming to societal expectations, but about finding genuine happiness and love."
Cherylene raises her voice, "Happiness? This is not happiness, Cheska! You're deluding yourself! You're destroying our family!"
Mia growled through gritted teeth, "You're going against everything we've taught you. You're spitting on our family's values and traditions."
Cheska yelled back, "No, I'm not destroying anything. I'm embracing who I am and who I love. Love is about acceptance, not judgment. If our family's values mean casting aside love and happiness, then I refuse to accept those values!!"
Alfeedo shook his head, "You're being selfish, Cheska. You're only thinking about yourself."
"No, I'm not being selfish. I'm being true to myself. I'm not hurting anyone by loving Gabrielle. I'm not asking you to change your beliefs, but I do ask for your respect and understanding."
