Gabrielle is sitting in the back of a taxi, her face illuminated by the passing city lights. She stares out the window, lost in her thoughts. The traffic moves slowly, adding to her restlessness.
As the taxi inches forward, Gabrielle's eyes widen as she spots a familiar figure on the sidewalk.
Her heart skips a beat. It's Cheska, her ex-lover, standing outside a motel. Tears well up in Gabrielle's eyes as a mix of emotions floods her.
"Cheska..."
Gabrielle's hand reaches out, almost as if she could touch Cheska through the window.
But then, to her surprise and dismay, Lyka appears by Cheska's side. They engage in a conversation, their faces close, and sincerity escapes their lips. Gabrielle's heart sinks, a pang of jealousy coursing through her.
Gabrielle watches their exchange, her heart breaking with each passing second. She feels like an outsider, forgotten in the wake of their connection.
Gabrielle, her face streaked with tears, watches as Cheska enters the motel with Lyka.
The sight is almost unbearable for her. Unable to bear the pain any longer, she abruptly gets out of the taxi.
The taxi driver nods understandingly as Gabrielle shuts the door and makes her way towards the motel entrance.
Her steps are heavy, filled with a mix of longing and desperation. She takes a deep breath, steeling herself for what lies ahead.
Inside the motel, she spots Lyka, who is just about to close the door to Cheska's room. Gabrielle rushes towards her, her voice trembling.
"Excuse me, please, I need to talk to you."
Lyka looks at Gabrielle with a mix of confusion and weariness.
Gabrielle steps into the hallway, her eyes darting around nervously. The air is heavy with emotions, and she can't shake the feeling that everything is slipping away.
"How are you related to Cheska?" Gabrielle asked suspiciously.
Lyka sighs, "We're classmates..." She coldly responded.
Gabrielle nods, "Are you and Cheska in a relationship?"
"No, but... She has a thing for me..."
Gabrielle smirks, "Cheska... She used to chase after me, you know? She'd beg for my love, for us to be together. I can't imagine her with someone else."
Lyka's face softens as she listens, but there's a hint of resignation in her eyes.
"I understand how you feel. But people change, and sometimes their hearts lead them in unexpected directions."
Gabrielle's heart sinks even further, the weight of realization pressing down on her. She struggles to find the right words, her voice barely above a whisper.
"But... how? How I can't imagine her with someone who isn't me, especially how much Cheska begged for me to love her again, and now her love has transferred to someone else"
Lyka spoke, "Gabrielle, you need to leave. Cheska could be back any minute now."
Gabrielle pulls away slightly, her expression filled with confusion and hurt.
"Why are you pushing me away? What did I do to deserve this? Are you scared that Cheska might still have feelings for me and will leave you hanging?!"
Lyka's patience wears thin, frustration creeping into her voice.
"You left Cheska hanging, Gabrielle. She cried over you, suffered because of your absence. And now, when she's found some semblance of happiness, you show up again, tearing open old wounds. It's not fair to her, or to me."
