Cheska enters the house with tears streaming down her face. She looks sad and heartbroken.
As she steps inside, she sees her grandmother, Gertrude, sitting on the couch, wearing a disappointed expression.
"Cheska, where have you been? We've been waiting for you."
Cheska's voice trembles as she tries to speak through her tears.
"I'm... I'm sorry, Grandma. I... I left you all out"
Gertrude's disappointment deepens, and she stands up, concern etched on her face.
"What happened, Cheska? We planned this surprise party for weeks. Your family was here, waiting for you. We were all so excited to celebrate your birthday together."
Cheska's voice breaks as she struggles to explain, her pain evident.
"I... I found out something about Gabrielle, Grandma. She... she cheated on me."
Gertrude's eyes widen, and she steps closer to Cheska, wrapping her arms around her.
"Oh, my dear, I'm so sorry. You don't deserve this pain. Come, sit down. Let it out."
Cheska collapses onto the nearby armchair, her body wracked with sobs. Gertrude sits beside her, offering comfort and support.
"You know, my dear, sometimes people we trust can hurt us deeply. It's painful, but it's important to remember that you're not alone. We're here for you, Cheska. Your family loves you, and we'll help you through this."
Cheska clings to Gertrude, seeking solace in her grandmother's comforting embrace.
"I feel so foolish, Grandma. I thought Gabrielle and I had something special, something real. I never imagined she would betray me like this."
"Love can be a complicated thing, my dear. It's not your fault. You opened your heart and took a chance on love, and that's a beautiful thing. But sometimes, people make choices that hurt us. It's okay to grieve and feel the pain, but remember, this doesn't define you. You are strong, resilient, and deserving of true love."
Cheska clings tightly to Gertrude's words, finding a sense of hope amidst her heartbreak.
"Grandma! I'm sorry, I just threw all your efforts away for someone that also doesn't appreciate mine"
That's when Martha entered the scene, "Oh, Cheska, thank goodness you're home!"
Cheska glared at her.
Martha spoke, "I was so worried about you!"
Cheska wiped her tears and stood up, "You don't have to get worried, I already have my bags here, I'm staying here."
Cheska stormed into her bedroom, Martha follows her.
Martha, glancing worriedly at her daughter, Cheska, who sits on the bed, visibly upset. Cheska, is clearly agitated but tries to hide it.
"Cheska, honey, please tell me what's wrong. You've been acting strange lately. Are you okay?"
"Mom, I'm fine! Can you just leave me alone?"
Martha stops pacing and looks at Cheska, her eyes filled with concern.
"Cheska, you know I love you, and I just want to help. You've always been able to confide in me. Are you sure everything is okay?"
"No, Mom! Everything is not okay. But I don't need you constantly asking me what's wrong. I can handle myself and my life, okay?"
Martha's face falls, hurt by Cheska's words.
"Cheska, I understand that you're upset, but I'm your mother. It's my job to worry about you and make sure you're okay. You don't have to go through everything alone."
Cheska stands up, her anger intensifying.
"Well, maybe I don't need a mother constantly hovering over me, trying to fix everything! I'm 18 now, Mom. I can handle my own problems, and I don't need you making me feel like I'm incapable!"
Martha's eyes well up with tears, but she tries to remain composed.
"Cheska, I'm sorry if I've made you feel that way. I never intended to undermine your capabilities. I just want you to know that I'm here for you, no matter what. You don't have to face everything alone."
Cheska scratched her head, "Then you shouldn't have left us if you think I don't have to face everything alone!" Cheska grabbed Martha's arm and dragged her outside, slamming the door on her face.
Cheska sits on her bed, surrounded by tissues and tear-streaked cheeks. Her eyes are puffy and red from crying.
She clutches a photo of her and Gabrielle, her ex-girlfriend, tightly in her hands.
"I can't... I can't believe it's over. I love her so much. No one else could ever make me feel the way Gabrielle did."
Cheska's voice trembles with heartbreak as she struggles to come to terms with the end of her relationship.
"I can't imagine being with someone else who's not Gabrielle. She was everything to me. How can I possibly move on?"
Cheska's mind races with memories of their time together, the laughter, the shared dreams, and the deep connection they had.
She feels an immense void in her heart, and the pain of losing Gabrielle becomes almost unbearable.
"I've tried to distract myself, to convince myself that I can find happiness elsewhere, but it's futile. No one else can replace her. No one else can make me feel this way."
Cheska's tears flow freely as she clings to the hope that somehow, against all odds, she can find a way back to Gabrielle.
The pain of the breakup consumes her, and she feels lost without the person who meant the world to her.
"I want her back so badly. I'd do anything to have her in my life again. I can't bear the thought of being without her."
Cheska's heartache intensifies, and she crumples onto her bed, inconsolable. In this moment, it seems impossible for her to imagine a future without Gabrielle by her side.
Martha and Gertrude listen to the sound of Cheska's heartbreaking cries resonates through the house.
Both Gertrude and Martha exchange pained glances, their hearts aching for Cheska.
"Oh, Martha, my heart breaks for Cheska. She's in so much pain."
"I know, Mom. It's unbearable to hear her like this. She loved Gabrielle so deeply, and the breakup has shattered her."
Cheska's cries grow louder, her anguish echoing through the house.
Gertrude reaches out and places a comforting hand on Martha's shoulder.
"Martha, my dear, we have to be there for her. She needs our love and support now more than ever."
Martha sniffles, wiping away her tears.
"You're right, Mom. We can't let her go through this alone. We need to let her know that we're here for her, no matter what."
