Mari's POV

I stand back and look at the apartment. I had just finished setting up for Lexi's 13 birthday party, and I had to make it perfect. Matt walked in with her birthday cake in his hands. "Let me look at it". I walked over to the kitchen. Looking at the cake, I knew she would love it. It was a white cake with little daisies and roses on it. The words read "Happy Birthday Lexi" in purple lettering. "The place looks great sweetie" he said, kissing my forehead. I looked across the living room. There were yellow and blue balloons hanging from the ceiling, as well as little purple paper flowers. A piñata hung in one corner, with Lexi's softball bat leaning against the wall. "Ok. Lexi and her friends are going to be here in about 10 minutes. Can you help me get her present ready". Matt nods and walks down the hall with me. As we were getting her present ready, I look back at what these past 9 years have been like. Wes recovered from the accident, Ian and Anthony got married and adopted a child, Josh revealed his love for Wes, even though Wes didn't feel the same. Lexi started going to online school, where she met all of her friends. She started softball and gymnastics. She also joined Smosh Games and is now part of the crew. Still hasn't found a boyfriend yet, but Matt is glad for that. Her Arrhythmia hasn't caused any problems in over 7 years, but it could come back. Sadly, Lucky passed away four years ago, and brought out the tears. I had Lucky for 9 years, and he was never unloved. Lexi was upset for days. Hopefully, this present will change that. I heard knocking on the front door. Lexi must have left her key. I walked over to the door and looked through the peephole. After the Peter incident, I have learned to look through it more often. Seeing Lexi and her friends, I opened the door very slightly. "Good afternoon girls. I do believe that you are here for a rocking birthday party". I opened the door and Lexi's face brightened. I knew she would instantly love it. Lexi and her friends ran in and sat on the couch. "Now girls. First,we are going to hook up the Xbox, then we'll go from there". I turned the tv on and put in Just Dance 4. Just like her parents, Lexi is an all-star at any dancing game. We tried to get her into ballet, or any other type of dance, but she's just not into it like that. After about an hour, pizza came and the girls started to dig in. Some of her friends names are (and some of these are real): Shayna, Kacey, Ellen, Laura, and Maddi. She is also friends with David's daughter, Kara, and Ian and Anthony's daughter, Lizzie. After the girls finished their pizza, I pulled the softball bat out and handed it to Lexi. "Birthday girl first". When Lexi comes up with a bat, everyone backs away. She has a great arm, and accidentally broke someone's nose because she wasn't wearing head gear. Her first swing; point blank. All of the candy and goodies fell out and all of the girls went to get as much as they could. Kacey ended up getting the most, barely able to hold on to everything. I handed each of the girls a bag, so they could hold onto their goodies. I grabbed the cake and gave each of the girls a slice. Somehow, the girls ended up having cake frosting in their hair, Lexi having the most. After the girls cleaned up, it was present time. This part was so crazy, Matt had to leave the room with his hands over his ears. Shayna gave her a new IPhone case, Kacey gave her a new softball set, Ellen gave her a new mani/pedi set. Laura gave her a $25 dollar gift card to Starbucks, and Maddi gave her a new computer case. Matt came out a few minutes after and asked if we were ready for the last one. I nodded and he went back to our room. I walked back there with him. "Can you help me with this". I nodded and grabbed one side of the big box we had that held our present to Lexi. We carried it out to the living room and placed it in front of Lexi. The undid the big blue bow and lifted the cover. I grabbed my camera so I could post it on Instagram. The cover was off all of way, and Lexi's face light up even more. A little Border Collie popped out of the box. We checked and triple checked that it was a girl. Lexi picked her up and started crying. "This is the best present ever! Thank you"! She placed her puppy down and ran over to us. She almost choked me with the hug that she gave us. I started crying and hugged her back. After we were done, Lexi hugged her friends goodbye. We cleaned up and Lexi started playing with her new dog. "Lexi. What's her name"? "Her name is Rex". I laughed and gave her a hug. "I love it. Lets welcome Rex to the family".
