Chapter 28

Lexi's POV

I sat at my desk with my algebra textbook sitting out in front of me. English and math have never been my strong suits. "Lexi. Can I come in". "Yeah Mom". The door opened and Mom came in and sat down next to me. "Math huh". I nodded. "Need some help". "A little bit. I juat don't get it". "Well. Do you pay attention in class". I sighed. "I try to, but the girl that sits next to me is always trying to talk to me during class". Mom started rubbing my back. "Have you told the teacher about it". "Well, I got in trouble for talking in class, when really it was Mandi that was talking to me". "I'm sorry sweetie. You want to come out for dinner". I put my pencil down and walked out with her to the table. During dinner, I couldn't really eat. "Lex. Is everything ok" Dad asked. "No. I'm having a hard time with math because the girl next to me keeps trying to talk to me and it's affecting my grades". "Been there done that. Just ignore her. And if that doesn't work, just tell the teacher. I nodded and picked my fork back up and finished my dinner. When I reached my room, I closed the door and texted Shayna.

Me: hey shay
Shayna: hey girl what's up
Me: do you understand the math homework?
Shayna: yeah you need some help
Me: yeah. Sitting next to Mandi doesn't really help
Shayna: I'll skype you in a couple minutes
I put my phone down and grabbed my laptop. The Skype ringtone started to go off, so I answered it. "Hey Lexi". "Hey Shay". "Do you have your math book"? I put the computer on the bed and held it up. She nodded and started to help me. 20 minutes later, I understood it enough to finish it on my own. "Thanks girl! You're a life saver". She shrugged it off and waved goodbye. I finished the homework and put it away. I then grabbed my laptop and turned on Minecraft. I grabbed my headphones and slid into my closet. The closet has always been my favorite place in the house because it's big enough that I can sit in it comfortably, but small enough that I can curl up and not be seen. 2 hours later, I fell asleep. "Lexi". I may have been asleep, but I could hear my mom walk into my room. "Matt. Do you know where Lexi is". "Try the closet". The door opened. "Found her. You want to come here".

Mari's POV

"Matt. Do you know where Lexi is"? "Try the closet". I walked over to the closet. I opened the door and saw Lexi curled up with her headphones and laptop in her lap. "Found her. You want to come here". "What's up". He walked over to me and put his hand on my shoulder. He saw Lexi. "She's weird, isn't she"? "She takes after you". "Hey". "Lexi. Come on sweetie". She groaned and got up. "Come on. Let's get to bed". She slowly got up and walked over to her bed. I pulled the sheets over her and walked out with Matt, shutting the door behind me.
