Lexi's POV

I slammed my door and flopped down on my bed. My parents just don't understand. My laptop was sitting on my desk, waiting to be used. I grabbed the box of poptarts, my headphones and computer and went into the closet.

Matt's POV

While we were driving, I looked over at Mari. "Mari. What's wrong". "I wish we could have four year old Lexi back. The one who didn't slam doors or give us attitude". I reached over for Mari's hand. She grabbed hold of my hand and gave it a squeeze. It was her ring finger, so her wedding ring touched my finger. A tear came to my eye. Mari looked over at me. "What's wrong". "It took me two years to ask you out, and know look were we are". We pulled into the parking ramp for the office. When we walked into the office, Wes looked upset. "Where's Lexi". "She's been having a rough night, so she stayed home". "Attitude" David asked leaning over in his chair. "Yeah. And lots of it". "Just wait. It gets worse". I laughed. We went over what we were recording today. Some of the guys would record GTS, while some would record gametime.

Lexi's POV

Sitting in the closet playing Minecraft all morning was the best thing ever. I was able to copy the server we were playing on a couple weeks ago so my house and wall wouldn't go away. I had just started a garden when my phone went off. It was Mom, probably seeing if I was ok. I ignored the call and went back to my game. A couple hours later, Kacey texted me.

Kacey: hey girl.
Me: what up Kace
Kacey: you want to go hang out in the special tree?
Me: yeah sure. See you in a few.
The good thing about living in the same apartment building as my friend is that we can have special hangouts that can be for just us. For Kacey and I, we have a special tree out back. I grabbed one of my sweatshirts and my sketch pad. I ran out of the building and to the tree. Kacey was waiting for me. "Hey girl". "Hey Kace. Why weren't you able to come to the sleepover last night again". "I had family stuff going on". I nodded and climbed into the tree. "Hey did you hear. We have a new girl in the building". "Really? When did this happen". "Yesterday I think". A couple seconds later, a girl came out into the grass area behind the building. She was wearing a black hoodie, with some of her brown hair coming out of the top. She carried a light purple bag over her shoulder. "Is that the new girl". Kacey nodded. "Do you know her name". "I asked her parents. I think they said her name was Raven. They're my new neighbors". "Wait a minute. You mean the nice seniors that lived next to you who gave us the good Halloween candy left". She nodded. Raven walked over the old swing set, sat down and pulled out a sketch pad similar to mine. "You said you wanted to show me your drawings. Can I see". I opened the pad to show Kacey what I had been working on. I showed her the video game characters I drew, and the stuff my parents freaked out about. They were drawings of murders, with blood, weapons and bodies. I can have a scary mind. "Wow. You're a good artist. The bodies look so real". "Yeah. My parents freaked out about it when they saw it". After a couple minutes, I closed the pad and slipped it into a fork in the branches. "You know, I think Drew's starting to like you". "Really". "Yeah. He sits next to me in English and he asks about you all the time". "Can you keep a secret". She nodded. "I'm starting to like him too". Kacey squealed. So hard that she shook the branch my sketch pad was on. It fell to the ground, just as Raven was walking past. She picked it up and looked through it. I jumped down. "Did you draw this". "Um yeah". "These are really good". I looked at her with disbelief. "Raven by the way". She stuck her hand out. "Lexi". I shook her hand back. She gave me my sketch pad back and walked toward the building. I looked at my watch. "Hey Kace. I have to go. My parents will be home soon". She waved goodbye and I walked back up to our apartment. 5 minutes after I walked into the door, Mom and Dad walked into the apartment. "Lexi. We're home". I walked out into the living room. "How was your day". "It was good. What did you do". "I hung out, played some Minecraft, hung out with Kacey and that's it". They nodded and went back to their room. I went back into my room and picked out a book. Looking through my collection, I picked out The Fault In Our Stars, one of my favorites. While I was reading, I got a text from a number I didn't know.

Unknown: hi Lexi
Me: who is this
Unknown: this is Drew
I almost dropped my phone.

Me: might I ask how you got my number?
Drew: your friend Kacey
Me: oh ok.
There was a knock on my door a couple minutes later. It's my mom's silent way of saying time for bed. I grabbed my pajamas, changed and slipped into bed.
