Chapter 2

Matt's POV

As always, she was right and I was wrong. 9 o'clock rolled around and it was time for Lexi to go to bed. "Night Daddy. I love you". "I love you too. Night baby". I looked around the former guest room. It was painted lavender with a white tree decal above Lexi's bed. Looking around the room, the floor was littered with stuffed animals. Everything from Winnie the Pooh, to Disney princesses. The bed was a little big for her, but it would work until she enters high school. It was white with a blue quilt and white pillows. Closing the door, Mari was standing out in the hall. She had grown in maturity since the Peter incident and Lexi being born. "Movie date time". We found a cheesy romance movie on Netflix. Half way through, I felt Mari lean onto my shoulder, her steady breathing signaling she was asleep. This reminded me of the night she woke up screaming after her dream that for some reason predicted the future.

Mari's POV

I fell asleep halfway through the movie. About 10 minutes later, I heard the T.V. turn off. I then was picked up and brought down the hall. Thankfully I had changed into my pajamas before we started the movie. The soft feel of our memory foam mattress felt really nice. Matt slid under the quilt next to me. He put his signature protective arm around me. A couple hours later, my dreams turned into nightmares. Man, did this feel familiar. It was.really fuzzy, but I could see me and Matt, standing in the hospital, standing over someone. Upon further inspection, I realized it was Lexi. I woke up with a scream. Matt sat up, with a worried look. "What is it. Another nightmare". I nodded. "It was us, standing over Lexi. In a hospital. I was crying, and you were there trying to comfort me". The tears started to come. Matt pulled me closer, stroking my hair. Like I said, really familiar. He laid me back down onto the bed, still stroking my hair. He put his arm around me again. I knew it was going to be another rough year.
