(Y/N) flopped onto the bed in her hotel room and let out a long groan into the pillow. The fabric was flush against her hot skin and the softness made her muscles relax nicely. It had been a long day. Endeavor didn't spare any time or effort when it came to his mentoring, which meant working the four UA students under his tutelage to the bone.

(Y/N) certainly had worked hard before. In fact, looking back at her time at UA, it was filled with nothing but hard work that made her body feel like it had been shoved into a woodchipper. But this was different. She felt she had to prove something. She felt like she had to show everyone that she was still strong; she was still capable of fighting alongside everyone else.

However, (Y/N) didn't have time to rest for something else was itching at her mind.

The book.

The book Hawks had given her, along with her classmates and Endeavor. The book seemed to have Hawks' full support, and yet, he acted so oddly about it. So specific. (Y/N) needed to understand what he was trying to say because she knew he was trying to get a message across to them. She wouldn't let it go over her head.

(Y/N) peeled herself off the bed with great discomfort and effort, her arms trembling as she pushed herself up. She rubbed her eyes harshly, widening them like a crazed person to trick herself into being awake. She stumbled across the hotel room and dug through her bag, quickly finding the book she desired and throwing it onto the soft bed. She followed quickly after it, jumping onto the bed and cringing at the loud squeak that erupted from her landing. She was sure Bakugou heard it, who was in the room next to hers. Her theory was instantly proved as a loud banging was heard on the wall, followed promptly by a string of curses at (Y/N), telling her to shut up. Admittedly, she thought his reaction was a little harsh but she ignored it.

She remembered Hawks' words as she gently flipped through the pages.

"You should at least look over the highlighted parts. Read them closely."

(Y/N) examined the many lines Hawks had highlighted but they were sporadic. Read separately, they didn't make any sense. They didn't have any coherence and (Y/N) couldn't understand why Hawks had highlighted them in the first place. The yellow simply seemed like a nuisance in the paragraphs, meant to confuse her. She frowned, feeling the exhaustion hinder her critical thinking.

"I recommend the second part."

(Y/N) hummed to herself unsurely as she scanned the pages. She flipped through a few, trying to find the exact middle of the highlighted sections but they were too far and few between to make any sense. She must have been missing something.

Hawks had sounded so cryptic. He didn't even sound like himself. Even as her mentor, someone responsible for her safety and growth, he was carefree and nonchalant. He was never one to take anything too seriously. That was his whole brand. So why was he so serious?
