(Y/N)'s hands desperately grabbed at the floor below her, though she could not see them. She inhaled a shaky breath and exhaled smoothly.
"Envision it. Just envision it." She whispered to herself, her tone caked with hopelessness.
She squeezed her eyes tightly shut but it made no difference to her vision compared to when her eyes were open. She tried to imagine the particles of the floor; then the energy between the particles of the floor, then the floor melting, the floor softening.
Nothing happened.
She realised that if she couldn't see the product of her power, it wouldn't come to fruition. She had no power without her sight. In the black smoke, she could see nothing and was trapped in a quirkless body that had no use. She buried her face in her hands and let out a continuous groan before slapping both of her cheeks.
"Why is there always a problem?!" She screeched. She clenched her fists and slammed them down on the floor, followed by a tearless wail of pity for herself. "Why did I do this?" She cried. She leaned forward in her kneeled position and pressed her forehead into the road, letting out another continuous wail. "Why, why, why, why, why?" She rubbed her face onto the dirt of the concrete. Her hands went to clutch her head, only to feel her goggles had shifted from her forehead to the top of her head in the midst of battle. Suddenly, her eyes widened as she shot up from her pathetic position on the road. She aggressively ripped the goggles from her head and pressed the visors over her eyes without even pulling the strap over her head. Using her muscle memory, her hand shot to her temple, messing with the dials before she finally managed to switch on her thermal imaging visor and watched the world light up with yellows, oranges, and reds.
(Y/N)'s smile widened massively as she shot up to her feet. She turned and looked for the person she was duelling but could not find its figure. None of the warm-coloured shapes resembled the long trench coat. Just as (Y/N)'s lips threatened to frown with worry, her eyes caught something that irked her interest.
In the darkness that was just as cold as it felt, (Y/N) spotted the book which had flipped back and forth relentlessly during the fight. It was seeping with deep lively red. Without a thought, (Y/N) shot forward and charged towards the book. Without the use of her quirk, the only thing she could do was leap into the air and tackle the book to the ground. It felt just like a normal book and she slapped it closed once she got her hands on it, falling to the ground with the book cradled to her chest.
There was no sound on the road except the reverberation of clanking on the floor. (Y/N) peeked upwards to see the pearly white mask bouncing on the road in front of her. The smoke had disappeared and all that remained of the person she had faced was the book and the mask. (Y/N) gulped as she shifted awkwardly from the floor, still holding the book close in fear that it would snap open again, though it showed no resistance whatsoever.
Carefully, she angled her mouth to her earpiece. "Jin?"
"Yes?" Jin responded instantly. "Is everything okay?" His tone was clearly nervous with a significant shake in his tone.
