~Bam's POV~
As me and Ryan are walking back to the common room, Umbridge stops us.
"May I have a word?"
We look at each other before we follow her to her office.
She closes the door behind us and pours us each a cup of coffee.
"No thank you," I say. "What's this about?"
"I hear the two of you have joined Isabella Potter..."
"Swan," I correct her.
"In her effort to build Dumbledore's Army against the Ministry."
"This has nothing to do with Dumbledore, or the Ministry," Ryan says.
"Yes it does, Ryan," I say. "If the Ministry weren't so set against us defending ourselves, we wouldn't need to learn in secret."
"But we aren't forming an army against the Ministry," Ryan says.
"No, not against the Ministry."
"And what gives you the impression you would need to defend yourselves?" Umbridge asks.
"Seriously woman, when are you going to admit to yourself that Voldemort is back and will wreak his evil upon the world once more? He is gathering his forces as we speak."
"Enough!" she shouts. "Sit down."
We do and she hands us both a large quill each. From what the other students have said, these are the quills that make what we write appear on our hands, and apparently they hurt like hell.
"Now you have two choices, tell me how to get into that secret room of yours or suffer the punishments."
"I will never tell you," I scoff.
"Me neither," Ryan says.
"Then I want you to write: 'I will not speak of the Dark Lord; I will not take part in any combat training in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry; I will not associate with those who do.'"
"Is there enough room on our hands for all that?" Ryan whispers with fear in his eyes.
"I don't know mate but I know it's going to hurt, alot," I whisper back.
"Begin," she says and we look at each other before we start writing. A few seconds later, we have to stop when the writing burns into our hands and we moan quietly until everything she'd told us to write has burnt into our hands.
"Now, would you please ask Isabella Potter so come in?"
"No!" Bam says. "I would rather suffer these words all over my body a hundred times than have Bella suffer even one word."
"Then tell me what I want to know."
I stop and think about what she said. For the first time since I met him, I wish Edward was here to answer a question for me but he's not.
"Bam, don't..." Ryan says.
"Mr Dunn, you can leave," Umbridge says.
Ryan pleads with me silently as he leaves the room and Umbridge closes the door behind him.
"Now, Mr Margera," Umbridge says and I bow my head in shame.
~Hollie's POV~
The next evening, we're practising our Patronus Charms when the lights start flickering and the chandelier shakes.
We all stop as it sounds like a giant is coming and then the lights flick off, then on again.
"What's happening Edward," Bella asks.
"I guess he does love you after all."
"What are you talking about?" I ask as we all look at the door but he doesn't answer.
The lights continue to flicker on and off, and the banging continues as we watch the main entrance into the room until the glass breaks and there's a hole in the wall.
Nigel and Harry, the closest to the door, look through the hole.
"I'll make short work for this," Umbridge says and Harry pulls Nigel back before the wall is blasted away and we all duck and cover.
When the dust is cleared, I see Umbridge and Filch along with Crabbe, Goyle, Pike and the rest of Draco's old followers standing in the corridor.
Then Draco appears with Bam in his arms and I look at Emberlee who is just as shocked as I am.
~Bella's POV~
Me, Harry, Bella and Bam are dragged to Dumbledore's office where Fudge is talking to Umbridge. Kingsley and another man are there also.
"Been watching them for weeks," she says. "And see. 'Dumbledore's Army'... proof of what I've been telling you right from the beginning, Cornelius. All your fear-mongering about You-Know-Who never fooled us for a minute. We saw your lies for what they were: A smokescreen for your bid to seize control of the Ministry."
"Naturally," Dumbledore says.
"No, professor," I say before I turn to Fudge. "He had nothing to do with it. It was me, all me."
"No, it was all three of us," Hollie corrects me.
"No, I swear, this whole thing was my idea," I say.
"Most noble of you, Bella, to shield your siblings, to shield me, but as has been pointed out, the parchment clearly says 'Dumbledore's Army,' not 'Potter's.' I instructed the Potter children to form this organisation. And I, and I alone, am responsible for its activities."
"Dispatch an owl to the Daily Prophet," Fudge orders. "If we hurry, we should still make the morning edition. Dawlish, Shacklebolt, you will escort Dumbledore to Azkaban to await trial for conspiracy and sedition."
"I thought we might hit this little snag," Dumbledore says before he moves around behind his desk. "You seem to be labouring under the delusion that I'm going to... What was the phrase? Come quietly."
They move towards him.
"Well, I can tell you this... I have no intention of going to Azkaban."
"Enough of this," Umbridge says. "Take him..."
He winks at me before Reba flies over him and with a clap over the head; he and Reba disappear, making us all fall back.
"Well," Kingsley says. "You may not like him, Minister but you can't deny Dumbledore has got style."
The next day, Umbridge declares she is the new headteacher at Hogwarts; and then Filch is asked to remove all the living painting in the castle so avoid spying. The door is locked at night and we all have to spend hours writing lines with the quills which mark our hands.
None of us are allowed to write home or request to be sent home so none of our parents are aware of what's happening. The Cullens were banished from the grounds and told that bad things would happen to the students they loved if they breathed a word of what's happening inside the castle.
But Edward keeps sneaking back in and staying with me at night when the nightmares hit.
After detention on the first day after the bust, Bam, Ryan and Merida are waiting outside the room.
"Bella, I'm so terribly sorry..."
I ignore him and carry on.
"Bella, please, I was just trying to protect you."
I stop and turn to him.
"Brandon, you ruined everything," I say as I go back to him. "Half the students weren't ready and now there's no chance of teaching them again. Voldemort is getting ever nearer, and nobody knows where Dumbledore is."
"I feel terrible, truly I do."
"Not as terrible as I do for ever trusting you."
I turn to walk away.
"Bella, do you remember what Dobby used to do? What you told me Dobby used to do?"
I stop again but stay where I am, about ten feet away, before I turn to him with confusion on my face.
"What you said he did when he did or said something out of tone?"
"I hope there's a point to this, Brandon."
"I snuck into Umbridge's office last night, while she was sleeping and..."
He rolls up his sleeves, revealing writing all over his arms and I put my hands over my mouth in shock. He then rolls up his trouser legs to reveal more writing all over his leg.
"Oh my goodness, Bam, what did you do?"
Tears fill his eyes.
"I felt so bad for radding on you that I used all her quills to write lines. I am really very sorry, Bella."
I run up to him and throw my arms round him but he winces in pain.
"Sorry, it's not just my arms and legs."
I turn him round and lift up his top to reveal even more writing on his back.
Now I begin to cry.
"Oh, Bam, I'm so sorry I brought this on you... on everyone."
"None of this is your fault, Bella. I love you and would do anything to protect you."
I give him another hug, more gently this time.
"Don't take this the wrong way but I love you too."
~Emberlee's POV~
When I saw that Draco was holding Brandon, the only thing that crossed my mind was that he'd changed sides so there was only one thing left for me to do so when nobody is looking, I sneak out of the castle, Accio my broomstick and hurry back to headquarters.
"Emberlee," Uncle Sirius says with surprise. "What are you doing here? Is everything okay?"
I throw my arms round him and sob.
"Oh Uncle Sirius, everything is wrong. Dumbledore's Army have been discovered, the room is being locked up and Draco... he's turned traitor."
He pushes me away as Arthur, Molly and Remus come out.
"What's going on, Sirius?" Remus asks.
"Dumbledore is hunting for the Horcruxes with Carlisle and Jasper," Alice says as she walks in with Esme, Emmett and Rosalie.
"We've been banished from Hogwarts," Alice says. "But Edward is staying nearby to keep any eye on the children."
"Why is Dumbledore not at Hogwarts?" Molly asks.
"He took credit for the secret society the children set up and was going to be thrown into Azkaban but he apparated out of there," Emmett explains.
"With Dumbledore gone, those children are in danger," Molly says.
"It's worse than that," Alice says. "The children are being held hostage, they're not allowed to contact anyone and Umbridge is using Black Quills."
Molly gasps.
"There must be something we can do," Arthur says.
"We can't go to the Ministry and with the Order separated, we cannot storm into the castle and we have not taught the children Apparation," Remus says.
"I might be able to get a message to them but I'm afraid they're on their own," Uncle Sirius says.
Molly buries her head in Arthur's chest as he holds her.
