After I showered and brushed my teeth, I found a new toothbrush in my bathroom, I walk over to my closet to pick something to wear. I open the door and am met again with an empty space and no clothes in sight.
I guess I'll wear this then until after I bought new clothes.
I quickly put on some concealer on my almost not noticeable scars on my face and get out of my room. I head downstairs and hear my brothers arguing. I hear one of my brother's voice and recognize it as Diego's.
"She doesn't belong here. You know she doesn't. I want her out of the house. This girl isn't our sister anymore, why can't you see that?!" He yells, clearly frustrated.
I know Diego has issues with controlling his temper, but his words sting. Does he mean that? I mean, I already had thought about what he just said, but hearing it from someone else than my own thoughts hurt.
I hear my other brothers arguing back at him, but I am already holding my hands on my ears, not wanting to hear other words adding to my self-consciousness.
After a while I don't hear my brothers anymore and slowly retract my hands from my ears. I walk over to the kitchen, where I know my brothers still are, and see them all sitting on chairs. They all look pretty pissed. Not at me, but at eachother. I see most of them sending angry glares to Diego, but he doesn't seem to notice, not withdrawing his glare from mine. I glare right back at him, already getting more mad by the minute thinking about how he talked about me behind my back.
"Are you ready to go shopping ángel?" Javi asks me.
I just nod my head, still a bit shaken up about the conversation I just heard. My brother doesn't seem to notice, which I'm really thankful for at his moment.
"Don't you want to eat something Zina?"
Adrian asks with a look on his face, suspicion the main emotion.I can't get out of this this time.
I nod my head slowly and wait for Adrian to talk. After a while he does what I was expecting him to.
"What would you like to eat? We have literally anything!"
I look around the kitchen and settle on picking an apple, not wanting to eat something heavy on an empty stomach.
I take a bite from the apple and see Adrian smile at me satisfied.
Mischievous boy.
I finish my apple and Daisy, the youngest maids name, takes the clockhouse to the kitchen to throw it away for me. I want to tell her there's no need and I can do it myself, but I already know what my brothers will say about that. So I just smile at her gratefully and she smiles back out of courtesy.
I see Adrian stand up out of the corner of my eye and he announces:
"Is everyone ready to leave? I would like to get going. Morning traffic is terrible."
Everyone just nods or hums and we get going. We walk trough a door and we enter the massive garage with the multiple cars in I've seen before.
Adrian and Lucas walk over to a black car and they indicate for me to follow them, while Diego and Javi take a smaller grey car. Eleandro is nowhere in sight, but then again, hes probably working.
I know nothing about cars, but I'm pretty sure they don't have any cheap cars standing in this garage. There are at least 20 different ones if I counted right, and most of them are either a matte color or a metallic one. I already saw before we walked into the garage there's standing a small storage place where all the car's keys hang in. Maybe that could be usefull if I had to run away for any reason. Let's hope that'll never happen.
I bend down reaching into the low car and positioning myself in the backseat. Both the front seats are occupied by Adrian and Lucas. Adrian sits in the driver seat and he starts the car. We drive out of the garage and I see the smaller grey car with Diego and Javi in, follow us into the real world. We drive past trees and building, all in an killing silence. After 10 minutes of this silence, Adrian finally decides to put on the radio.
Why didn't he think of this before?
A song from Taylor Swift pops up, and the vibe automatically loosens up. I see Lucas bouncing his head up and down on the beat and I know it's tempting for him not to sing along. When the chorus hits, he can't hold back.
"Why can't you seeee, you belong with meeee. You belong with me." I giggle at the way his singing is way out of tune, but he doesn't seem to mind since he doesn't stop singing along with the lyrics. When the refrain pops up for the 3th time, and I know the lyrics, I finally start singing with them.
"Can't you see that I'm the one who understands you? Been here all along, so why can't you seeee, you belong with meee."
When the song ends we all start laughing with our behavior.
I'm starting to like the car singing sessions more and more.
We are still laughing when Adrian pulls up next to a massive building. It's at least six storeys high, and it radiates a rich impression. The walls are mostly made of glass, mixed with some metal here and there, and there hangs a large
sign above the entrance.Plaza luz solar. Fancy name.
My eyes widen and Adrian and Lucas seem to notice because they smile encouraging at me.
I see Diego and Javi pull up behind us and step out of their car. Javi smiles and waves at me and Diege, to no ones surprise, just glares at me again.
Adrian puts his arm around my shoulder and I flinch, not being able to hold it in. Besides, even tough I'm not in that house anymore and I have a good life for now, the scars of my past still follow me and keep tormenting me.
Adrian acts like he didn't notice my flinching, but I know he did. He's a very observant person.
I smile at him trying to reassure him and tell him I'm okay. This seems to relax him a bit.
Javi speaks up from behind me:
"Ready to go shopping Zina?"
