I wake up by a lot of sound downstairs, and I listen more carefully and suddenly hear a loud scream coming from downstairs. In a few seconds I'm out of my bed and speeding off of the stairs. That wasn't the best idea I've had, because I trip over my own foot, and tumble all the way down the stairs. Luckily I was almost at the last steps, making me just fall on the ground with a thump.I groan lightly, and want to stand up, but I feel an immense pain on the place where my ribs are. I know my ribs weren't healed quite yet, and with this movement it only hurt way worse. I take my time standing up, and take a few deep breaths in and out. I didn't think anyone was looking at me, so I jump a bit in the air when I see Diego leaning against the doorframe connecting the kitchen and living room.
He glares at me, maybe even harder than I've ever seen him do, but doesn't say a thing. I want to quickly escape his cold glare, and leave to go to the direction the scream came from, but when I turn around to leave, I hear Diego sneer at me.
"Just because you're my brothers little princess, doesn't mean you get away with everything. You can't just make a fucking act up to get even more attention than you already have. Espero que salgas de esta casa lo más rápido posible".
(I hope you leave this house as quickly as possible.)
Assuming I don't know what he said, he turns around before giving me a final glare, and walks into the kitchen. I stand stunned at his sudden act of violence.
I mean, it's Diego. I don't think I would've expected more from him, but just attacking me because I literally fell of the stairs? It's foolish for me to think he's any better than I've seen.
I mutter some curse words through my clenched teeth, and then finally go to look where the sound came from.
I think it came from the living room so I speed walk to there. Me and Diego's "conversation" didn't last very long, so whoever it was that screamed this loud should still be here.
I walk into the kitchen, only to see Adrian headlocking Lucas, while he's gasping for air. Lucas' head I coloring a dark red, and he's kicking his legs, trying to get out of Adrian's grip.
"What is going on?!" I ask slightly concerned for Lucas, since he's way younger than Adrian, and a lot smaller. He isn't short obviously, all my brothers are giants, but he is a little shorter than Adrian.
When Adrian hears my voice, he immediately let's Lucas go, letting him take ragged breaths, and I hear Lucas mutter some incoherent words, which are probably not the nicest, under his breath.
Adrian walks over to me and ruffles my hair. I groan, as I don't want my hair to be a mess of tangles.
"Did you sleep well Hermana?" He asks as if he didn't just try to choke his brother. I still see Lucas behind Adrian taking deep breaths in, and his face is still slightly red.
"What's going on between you and Lucas?" I ask, ignoring his question. "What did he do wrong?"
"Hey! Why's do you immediately assume I did something wrong? He just acted with violence out of nothing! You know violence isn't the option Adrian, come on Zina, tell him." He demands me as if I would ever tell Adrian to not to something like that. As if Adrian would even listen. I don't care how traumatic it was for Lucas, he probably did something to deserve it, and I wanna know what.
"He stole my controller, and got all his crumbly oily fingers to touch it. As if that wasn't enough, after that he made Monie lick my controller 'clean'."
Who the fuck is Monie. Does one of my brothers have a girlfriend? And why the hell would she lick a controller?
"Who's Monie?" I ask frowning my eyebrows.
I hear a really, overreacted loud, gasp coming from Lucas.
"Omg I forgot you haven't met her yet!" He says excitedly. "Follow me, I will show you her."
We walk into a room where I never have been, and I realize it's an arcade room. What the hell, these people are filthy rich.
I see a lot of gambling machines, and colorful games lined up all around the room. A lighted up fridge is filled to the brim with drinks. From soda to beers, and to even champagne and all the expensive stuff. They seem to have it all. A bar next to the fridge is decorated in a pirate theme, and a few barstools are shoved against the bar. I walk to the bar and notice the stools have name cards attached to them. There are 6 stools and each of them looks like they've been used before. I notice Diego's stools fabric is a little more worn-out than the others, and Lucas even stocked colorful stickers on his, not that I'm surprised. Only one of the 6 chairs isn't used.
I walk over to the chair to see who it belongs to and gasp when I see what name's on it.
Zina Rodríguez Torres
My eyes immediately fill with tears, thinking about my brothers still hoping for my return after all those years.
I see Lucas walking over to me with a bucket of popcorn in his hands and I quickly blink away my tears.
How the hell is he eating popcorn at 10 in the morning? And where did he even get it from?
"You comin' Zi? I wanna introduce you to Monie." He says, not knowing why I stopped here.
I nod my head and follow him to the back of the arcade. There are standing 3 comfortable looking lounge sofa's, and
I get more surprised each time when discovering new things yet again."This is Monie." Lucas says, pointing to a place in the sofa.
Where I expected to be sitting a woman or girl or atleast a human, is now sitting a cat. My mouth drops open in adoration. It's a beautiful creature. It has long white fluffy hair and it looks really elegant whit the white colar, decorated with a pink bow around her neck. I immediately know Lucas chose the bow, being the most fashionable of the family.
Okay, I didn't except my 6 foot tall, scary looking brothers have such a sweet thing as a cat, but hey, I'm not complaining.
I quickly rush to the cat, not giving Lucas any attention.
I stroke its back and tickle under her chin. Her fur is the softest thing I've ever felt. Monie immediately starts purring when I give her attention, and my heart melts with love for this animal.
I think about her name and notice something weird about the pronunciation. Monie isn't a common name for a cat, as long as I know, and with my brothers you'll never know for sure.
"Is it for a specific reasons that she's called 'Monie'?" I ask Lucas. His eyes immediately light up in excitement, telling me he's going ot tell me a storie.
"Yes it is. I could choose her name and thought it would be funny to call her money, you know like the currency. So I suggested the name to my brothers and they didn't think anything strange about it, not knowing I meant the currency. It wasn't after 2 days that they noticed the name sounded ridiculously much like the currency. But the damage was already done, since she listened to the name 'Money' now. My brothers said it wasn't okay to call a cat after a currency and how weird it was or whatever, so they changed her name to Monie so the pronunciation would be the same, it just wouldn't be spelled as the currency. I think it was a pretty genious move of me to be honest." He grins when he's done, thinking back about the memory.
When he's done talking, I sit there with a happy smile on my face, partly because it's a funny story, but also because I love having someone to talk to.
