I feel like I'm third wheeling sitting in the back of the car while Nico and Lucas are talking in the front. Of course they've known eachother for far longer than I and Lucas have, but I wish I could talk along with them about stupid things such as soccer or who's the most popular boy in school.
Nico is friendly to me, although it's probably because I'm his best friend's sister, I still appreciate it a lot. He's a shy guy. The polar opposite of Lucas, but they still seem to get along well. I was afraid he'd hate me, and it's without a good reason.
"What do you think Zina?" I hear Lucas ask me while my head is elsewhere.
"Uhm, sorry, what?" I ask confused at about what he was talking about just now.
"Who's the most annoying girl you think?" He repeats his question.
"Tiffany." I've already said her name before he's finished talking. It just slipped out, but it's not a lie though.
Lucas and Nico snort and I show a little smile myself too.
"Yeah, she can be pretty annoying." Nico agrees with me and I'm more glad than ever that they're not fangirling over her like the whole school is.
When we reach the school, I get out of the car and begin walking inside, when Lucas joins along next to me.
"If anything, anything happens, you come to me alright?" He asks me and I can't do much more than nod, not wanting to disobey him.
Lucas hugs me before he goes to his group of friends, and I walk through the hallway towards the lockers where my friends normally hang out.
I hold my head high, chin up as I walk past the loud teenagers around me.
I have no idea if Liam told anyone, or if word has already gone around this school, but based on the normal staring and whispering a new student gets, I assume no one knows what happened yesterday.
When I spot Leanne's back surrounded by Medea, Zain and Liam, I fasten my pace and walk over to them.
I take a deep breath in, preparing myself for the excuse I'll surely have to make up, and which must be believable.
"Hey guys-" I begin, but my sentence gets cut of when Leanne embraces me without as much as a warning.
"Oh Zina, Liam told us what happened. I was so worried!" She says as she embraces me, and I share glances with Liam. He looks at me with an expression filled with worry and reassuring. He hasn't told them the truth, if he even figured it out.
"Does your head still hurt? How could you be so clumsy to slip?!" She asks as she's caressing my head, definitely not on the right spot but I don't tell her that.
"Yeah, that is pretty stupid Zina." Medea says while her chest shakes from trying her best to no laugh.
"You okay though?" She asks when I don't answer her last question.
