Andrew:

"Class, this our new classmate, Kiley," our teacher said as a girl came into view. She seemed shy and pretty small for our age.

We are twelfth graders.

She just waved hello and smiled shyly. She has blonde-ish long wavy hair and caramel eyes, pale skin.

The teacher smiled knowingly at her and pointed to the front empty seat; the seat in front of mine. Kiley nodded and sat there. Afterwards, the teacher said something to the class I didn't quite get.

She kept giving the class and I made a 'psst' sound so Kiley could turn around. She kept her head straight, copying what was on the board.

Is she ignoring me? I thought.

I poked her back and her head whipped around to face me. She raised an eyebrow in questioning.

"Hey." I grinned. "My name's Andrew, nice to meet you." I waited for her response.

Her smile disappeared as she furrowed her eyebrows. Then she brought her hands up and signed.

'What?'

My eyes widen and my jaw fell slightly. Shoot.

I felt my heart ache slightly. I thought for a moment, thinking about how to sign back. But a better idea came to mind. Ripping out a small piece of paper from my notebook, I wrote something into it.

My name's Andrew, nice to meet you.

She smiled as she read it. Then she signed back.

'Nice to meet you, too, Andrew.'
