Andrew:
Instead of staying in school, I left. I couldn't be around Kiley anymore.
One, she probably hates me.
Two, I'm scared.
What if she misunderstood my note?
So many 'what if' questions clouded my mind, making me even more nervous and scared.
There was no bus, so I had to walk home. Once I had made it home, I took the house key from the plants and unlocked the house door. I tossed the key back where it was and got inside, locking the door.
I stormed off into my room and slammed the door shut. I threw my backpack to the couch in the corner of my room and jumped on my bed.
Taking a pillow, I shoved it into my face and screamed all my anger out.
So much anger made tears escape my eyes.
"Damn it," I breathed out. "Why would she think such awful things?" I asked to myself.
"Why?" I yelled out as I ran my fingers through my hair.
You don't have to pretend to be my friend just because I'm deaf.
I don't want to wait for the day you disappear to know that you were just pretending.
Just leave, Andrew.
Go.
Those words pained me more than they should, and that scared me.
