'Wow! Look at these decorations! Is it a house warming party or someone's wedding?' June whistles the moment we get there.
'How do I look? Is my hair okay?' I nervously touched my head.
'Yeah you are good.' June waved his hand nonchalantly.
'Look at that fountain! It's even bigger than the one at the centre mall!' Ton, my other friend, exclaimed.
'They are filthy rich!' June nodded.
'Tay's super rich too! But they don't throw money this way!' Ton expressed his thoughts. June and Ton both are from prominent families but not super rich.
'True. But not all people are like that.' June parked the car.
'Hey Tay! You came!' A voice greeted me the moment we entered the hall.
Mint!
'Hi!' I am so excited. Finally I met her face to face after so long.
'Hi!' She was shining like a bright star. My star.
'Come come, I was waiting for you. I want you to meet my parents first and then I'll take you to meet my friends.' She looks excited but a bit tired.
'Are you okay? You don't look good.' I asked with concern.
'Huh? Why? Don't you like my dress? I specially tailored it to impress you.' She blinked twice.
I melted on the spot.
'You look gorgeous. I didn't mean it that way.' I don't want her to be sad.
'Oh..' She blushed.
'Hello...we are still here....stop flirting guys...' Ton smiled and handed over Mint a box.
'Thanks. Come guys.' She gracefully received it and we went inside.
'Mom Dad....this is Tay....'
Her parents were chatting with some people when Mint tapped on her mother's back.
'Tay! Oh my! So handsome! We heard so much about you from her already! Welcome welcome!' Her mother is a lovely lady.
'Hello aunty.'
'Hello uncle.'
'Hello Tay.' Her father is a bit reserved but his smile was kind.
'And these are his friends. I know them too.' She introduced Ton and June.
After exchanging pleasantries Mint took us to the backyard.
'The party inside the house is for adults and here we youngsters are going to have a separate one. Come and meet my friends.' She explained excitedly.
'Didn't you just move here? How come you have so many friends?' I asked looking at the vast number of boys and girls.
'Actually I used to live here when I was little and we only shifted to Chiang Rai a few years ago. So these are my old friends.'
'Now you are back for good right? You are not going anywhere again right?' I asked anxiously.
Mint blushed happily and my friends started to whistle loudly.
'Tay is so head over the heel for you!' Ton bumps shoulder with me.
'Shut up.' I am shy.
'No Tay.....I am going to be here from now on.... don't worry.' She spoke shyly.
'Then......'
'Oh ask her out already!' June said impatiently.
'Stop interfering! I am going to ask!'
