killian never thought he'd ever love again after emma left him. she used the old "it's not you, it's me" excuse, thinking killian would just get over her and move on fast like he always did. he tried, he really did. the pirate did everything he could think of to get over swan, but nothing ever worked. sleeping with regina, going on a few dates with ruby, taking henry out for a ride on the jolly roger, flirted with a newly single belle, and nothing.

a few months after the dust had settled and everything was back to normal after returning from neverland, a new woman came into town. she turned out to be the daughter of robin hood. no one knew he had a daughter as the thief decided to conceal her for her own safety. hook had been the first to run into her after spending the night in the library. she was lost and looking for her father. the pirate offered to show her the way to him. since then, he hasn't been able to get her off his mind.

as fate would have it, she showed up at granny's one night looking for something to eat. killian was there playing some darts when she walked in. he walked over to her and smiled. they got to talking, laughing, smiling, and he realized something; he never got the woman's name.

"what's your name, love?" killian blushed.

"i'm hazel. what's your name, captain?" she asked back.

"killian. killian jones." he couldn't help the smile that ghosted his lips.

the pair were at granny's until ruby had to kick them out because they were closed. hazel and killian headed to the jolly roger to continue their time together. she took a real liking to this pirate, thinking that maybe they're not all alike. killian thought it was kinda refreshing to have someone new and full of life to talk to. hazel had been nothing like emma; not looking for danger, not wanting to go look for someone who didn't want to be found, listening to him when he spoke and actually responding, she wasn't all about herself.

they ended the night by sharing a kiss. a short one, but a passionate one at that. he felt fireworks between them, as did she. it was like their lips were meant to connect. like they were destined for one another. that scared hook, but it excited him as well. hazel was nervous to trust a pirate, given her past, but killian seemed very genuine and sweet. she still wanted to be cautious around him until she really got to know him and what he was like when no one was looking.

"killian? who's that?" she pointed to the dock.

"bloody hell. that would be emma swan, the town saviour." he sighed.

"you two have history?" hazel guessed.

"we do. she ended things between us months ago." killian admitted.

"oh. maybe you should go see what she wants." the girl suggested.

killian shook his head. he didn't want to see the woman who broke his heart. not when he finally was able to mend it and hopefully give it to someone else. hazel was confused. wouldn't pirates be over the moon when their exes come back to them? she outright asked him and he just looked at her for a second.

"you don't have good experiences with pirates, do you, love?" he looked down to his feet, than back up at her.

"no. i'm sorry." she whispered.

"don't apologize, darling. it's not your fault. not all pirates are as devilishly handsome and charming as me." hook winked.

"oh shut up." she lightly pushed his shoulder and giggled.

after awhile, emma left the dock. she had tears streaming down her face when she caught sight of killian and hazel laughing. it was then that she had realized what a mistake it was to end things with him. all he wanted to do was love her and give her the world.

and now, he was doing that. but it wasn't her he was giving it to anymore.
