draco never liked people to know when he was upset or sad. he hated when others saw him cry. he didn't want anyone to think he was weak. his father always told him that men never show their emotions, never show weakness, nothing. draco tried to unlearn all of that once he got to hogwarts and met a boy named harry potter.

potter knew how hard it must have been to be raised that way. maybe not in the no emotions way, but with a family that never cared about him. his aunt and uncle locked in a broom cupboard for the first eleven years of his life, pushed him around like a punching bag, used the poor boy as their butler basically. draco and harry bonded in their first year and had been inseparable ever since.

harry was sorted into slytherin as was draco. they were never without the other, knew almost everything about one another. the only thing harry hadn't seen was a crying draco. he never saw what his best friend looked like when he cried. draco saw potter in tears on more than one occasion, but never the other way around. malfoy was always there when harry needed someone, as was potter.

currently, draco and harry were in their sixth year. theodore nott and lorenzo berkshire were their best friends. malfoy and potter started dating almost six months, but no one except lorenzo knew. they were afraid of the ridicules and bullying that could come with sharing their relationship with others. one day, theodore caught the duo cuddling on the couch in the common room. harry's head was in draco's lap. nott took a picture of them and posted it, not thinking anyone would take it seriously.

but they did.

draco and harry woke up to both of their phones completely blowing up. harry watched as his lover went over to theodore and punched him square in the nose, then ran away to his dorm. potter quickly followed, not wanting to hear anything from the other slytherin boy right then. draco had locked himself in the bathroom, shattering the mirror on the wall. his hands were bloody and bruised, cheeks stained with tears, eyes red and puffy.

"dray? where are you?" harry called out.

"go away, please, potter." draco's voice broke.

harry hurried over to the bathroom and unlocked the door with a spell. his boyfriend was sitting on the edge of the bathtub, trying to control the bleeding. harry went into action immediately, taking the first aid kit from under the sink and cleaning malfoy's hands. potter soon realized the blonde was crying. he reached up and wiped the tears that fell, lifting draco's head so he could the icy blues he fell in love with.

"don't cry, pretty boy, they aren't worth your tears." harry whispered, wrapping the boy's hand in some gauze.

"you're good at that." malfoy chuckled as they walked over to his bed.

"what they say about us doesn't matter. we are who we are, we love who we love, there's nothing wrong with that. also, theodore didn't mean any harm. he didn't think people would believe that we were together." potter let his lover sit in his lap.

"thank you, mon amour, you always know what to say." draco connected their lips in a sweet but passionate kiss.

"i hope you know that i'd do anything, be anything, say anything just to see you smile, dray." harry blushed.
