fred weasley always stared at this girl across from the gryffindor tables. she was a hufflepuff and had been in his year. he didn't know her name, all he knew of was her beauty and how she tipped her head back when she laughed. she never ate vegetables, she hated pumpkin pasties, the only juice the girl would ever drink was apple, her best friend had been pansy parkinson since first year, tom and mattheo riddle were extremely protective over her.

george nudged his brother once he noticed the staring. ginny and hermione chuckled at him. he'd been admiring the girl from afar for so long. hermione sighed and wrote something on a piece of parchment, then had it delivered to the girl across the way. the girl gave the note a weird look but opened it anyway. after a few seconds, she pulled out her phone and started texting. fred's phone vibrated not even a minute later.

"quit your staring, red, it's creepy." the message read.

"sorry princess, you're just too pretty." fred replied.

hermione smiled to herself and whispered in ginny's ear what just happened. ginny high fived her friend and they went back to whatever conversation they were having. the girl smiled at her phone as fred kept texting her. she still hadn't given her name, which was kind of disheartening to the weasley. he wanted to know the name of the beauty he had been talking to. after dinner that night, fred and the girl agreed to meet up in person and have a formal introduction.

he felt a tap on his shoulder. the redhead turned to see her standing in front of him. she hugged the boy and thanked him for meeting her in a more secluded place. fred told her it was no problem as they sat on the bench behind them.

"what's your name, love? you know mine already, it's only fair that i know yours." fred finally asked.

"it's pandora." she smiled.

"it's just as beautiful as you." weasley took her hand and kissed the back of it.

they'd been there for hours, just simply talking. tom had come around the corner with his wand in hand and brother behind him. they glared at the weasley boy. pandora's eyes widened as she saw them. she knew she'd been caught and she'd be lying if she said she wasn't scared. mattheo went to grab her arm and pull the girl towards him. fred didn't dare stop him, but did ask why he was taking her away. after all, they were only having nice conversations.

"she's our girl, weasel. we don't need her associating with the wrong kind of people." mattheo looked fred up and down.

"he's not that kind of person, matty." she ripped her arm from his grip.

"we do not need our sister to be caught up with you. good night." tom hissed as he dragged the girl away.

pandora hated her brothers in that moment. no one, except for now fred weasley, knew they were siblings. it was for her own safety, as well as theirs. the siblings' father hated that his youngest had been sorted into hufflepuff, but there wasn't much he could really do. pandora changed her name so no one grew suspicious. however, her brothers always being there and having a protective hold over her, did make others question things.

the girl once again ripped her arms from tom's grip and walked away. she really hated when they treated her like a child. she was in her fifth year, for merlin's sake. they were only two years older than the poor girl. mattheo tried to go after her until tom stopped him and shook his head. he was going to let her go and do what she pleased. fred would only hurt her, and if she needed to learn that for herself, tom was going to let her.

pandora caught up with fred a little while later. they took a walk around the lake and snuck into the kitchens. once the duo realized he sun was coming up, they hurried back to their houses and changed into different clothes. pandora and fred were the first one in the great hall that morning. she sat with him, still wanting to get to know every detail about the redhead. he was more than happy to answer any and every question she asked.

"pandora? never seen you come over here before." hermione smiled.

"you know each other?" fred asked.

"of course! she's one of my best friends." pandora answered with a smile.

"why didn't you tell me? i've been pining after her for years and all this time, you knew her?" weasley huffed.

pandora giggled. she'd caught him staring at him a few times over the years, but she never knew about the pining. maybe some introductions were good. maybe ignoring older brothers led to bigger and better things. fred surely thought so, seeing as he had his dream girl sitting right next to him. pandora never dreamed of someone liking her for who she was, but she loved that he proved her wrong.
