forbidden. (tr + hp)

tom knew his feelings were forbidden. he knew he could never be with the one person that made him feel alive. one part of him didn't care, but another part of him was terrified of what his father would do to him and the person he grew deep feelings for. 

it was hard for tom to stay away, given that they're both in the same house and all the same classes. draco, mattheo, and lorenzo loved to poke fun at tom from time to time. they never thought he could love, but they were pleasantly surprised once they discovered their friend had feelings for someone. they were even more shocked at who it was.

"are you ever going to stop staring at him and just ask the lad out?" mattheo asked his older brother one night in the common room.

"you know father would kill both him and me of i were to do that." tom sighed, not looking up from his book.

"father's not here. he can't get through the barrier mcgonagall put around the school." mattheo reasoned.

"and what if i asked him out? what would i do if he were to reject me?" tom finally looked up and caught a glance of the raven hair boy sitting by the fire a few feet away.

draco sat next to tom on the sofa after a few minutes of mattheo not knowing how to respond. lorenzo and regulus were listening in, but not sitting near them. they didn't want to be anywhere near tom if he were to get rejected.

"he won't say no, mate." draco said.

"if i go over there and get rejected, i'm ending both of you." tom rolled his eyes and made his way to the boy by the fire.

the raven haired boy smiled as tom sat next to him, putting his homework aside to give tom his full attention. tom didn't react, but heart did a little flip at the sweet gesture. 

"hi tom. how are you this evening?" he asked.

"i'm fine, thank you. how are you, potter?" tom gave a small smile.

"i'm okay. this dada homework is really difficult though. did you get through it?" harry gestured to the pile of paper on the floor.

"i'll help you with it, but i have a question to ask you first." tom looked down at his hands.

harry moved closer to his friend and grabbed his hands. he was worried something serious happened and he was about to ask a terrifying questions. they'd had serious conversations about what tom's father was capable of, and what harry would have to do if the dark lord were to ever come to hogwarts. 

"is everything alright, tom?" harry breathed.

"i wanted to ask if you'd like to go on a date with me sometime?" tom took a deep breath before asking.

"merlin, tom, you scared me half to death!" harry smacked tom's shoulder.

"but yes, i will go out with you." harry kissed tom's cheek.

that was two years ago. 

cut to now, tom and harry had been together for over two years and only their friends in slytherin knew about it. the dark lord was not aware of it whatsoever, and tom was hoping with everything he had that it would stay that way. harry knew what it meant to be the boyfriend of the dark lord's son, and he'd made his peace with it the day they told their friends that they were together.

tom hadn't.

tom hated the forbidden love trope he was in with a passion. he wanted to be able to take harry out on dates without the fear or worry his father would see him and try to hurt harry. draco and regulus had encouraged tom to tell the dark lord multiple times, but tom refused. he knew what that man would do if he ever found out him or mattheo were in relationships, let alone in a relationship with a man.
